Yo-Yo and Poacher

Yo-Yo is a littermate to my Gambler (who my Norman is the daddy), she was on vacation this past week with her family. They camped on the beach and had lots of fun. This was my favorite picture from their trip so I had to put a poem (which I did not write) to it. Yo-Yo and Poacher are best friends and one day hopefully will make beautiful puppies.

My Heart Belongs To A Chesapeake(s)

MY HEART BELONGS TO A CHESAPEAKE BAY RETRIEVER

A rough and ready sporting dog,
With loyal, loving ways-
My Chesapeake Bay Retriever
Puts sunshine in my days.

A dog that’s sure to follow its nose,
until the chase is done.
When that pup looked up at me,
I knew my heart was won.

Roaming happily by my side,
or resting at my feet-
My Chesapeake Bay Retriever
Makes my life complete.

Gambler Blackfoot

Gambler has a new name: It is Sand Spring Gambler Blackfoot. We found out he has a bit of indian in him.

Put dogs outside this am and Gambler came back with black feet. Guess the ditch is all dried up since we haven’t had any rain and all that is left is stinky marsh muck. Gambler jumped in and came back to the house and ran threw the living room leaving stinky paw prints behind. I washed his feet and sent him outside to dry and looked out at him and he had black feet again. What am I gonna do with that boy?

Tuesday with Norman

CREATION

When God made the Earth and sky, the flowers and the trees,

He then made all the animals, and all the birds & bees.

And when his work was finished, not one was quite the same,

He said, “I’ll walk this earth of mine, and give each one a name.”

And so he traveled land & sea, and everywhere he went,

A little creature followed him, until its strength was spent.

When all were named upon the earth, and in the sky & sea,

The little creature said, “Dear Lord, there’s not one left for me.”

The father sniffed and softly said, “I’ve left you till the end,

I’ve turned my own name back to front, and called you Dog,

My friend”.

Norman came with me to work yesterday and today to hang out and get his knee looked at. He fell on Frinday and was limping so I had it checked out. Xray showed arthritis which at almost 12 can’t be too shocked. He just had a arthritis flare up as his ACL tendon seems to be intact yet. It’s so hard when the older ones get old and struggle to get up and down. He is such a happy boy and takes everything in stride and won’t miss a ball fetch for anything no matter how much arthritis is holding him back he will give it his all.

He is my heart and I love this old boy to pieces I couldn’t of asked God for a better companion for my life. I hope he is with me many more years!

Love you Norman!

Gambler’s 2 UKC HRC Started passes

Ran Gambler in 2 UKC HRC Started passes this past weekend. He did a excellent job and made me proud by passing both days. He now has 10 points towards his Started title. He will be running again this coming weekend. GO G-Man!!

When I went up to the line the judges wife was there and she goes “is this the criminal” I said nope this is the terrorist!! 🙂 She has been following along with my terrorist adventures on facebook and got the meet the terrorist first hand.

Glory’s first UKC HRC hunt test

Glory is 6.5 months old now and we were running Gambler in a UKC HRC Started test this past weekend so on Sat we decided to enter Glory to get her some exposure at the hunt test. We thought what the hay, we have a 50/50 chance that she will pull it off. If she did we would enter her on Sunday if not then we wouldn’t. John ran Glory and she did good in the holding blind, did good at the line then the decoys were just too tempting. When we saw the set up we figured that she would be ok since the decoys were off to the side and there was a nice big opening for her to go in and swim right out to get the duck well nope Glory had other ideas. Saw the bird come down, jumped in and went for the decoy, brought it back and delivered it to hand. Re sent her on the duck, jumped in went the other way and tried to get another decoy but that one the weight was too heavy so she came back without. No birds but that little girl had the time of her life and was happy to have brought back the decoy. I was all smiles as she was out there having fun! She is now called “The Decoy Bandit”

Horicon Marsh HRC tomorrow

Tomorrow Gambler and I will be running in the started HRC test held at the Horicon Marsh HRC club. Here is the link to the clubs website.

http://www.hmhrc.org/index.htm

If he passes both days he will have 10 points. He will need 20 points for his Started title (SHR), 40 points for his Seasoned title (HR), 100 points for his Finished title (HRCH).

Norman & Nellie both have their HRCH titles so they will be spectators. The jury is still out if we are going to enter Glory or not, we will see if there are any openings tomorrow when we get there. She has this puppy habit of not bringing the duck all the way back to taking it to someone else so we will see.

This past weekends training day

We travel to Sheboygan Falls on the weekends when we’re not trialing. Our good friends are up there and we go to train. There kennel name is Woodland Bay Chesapeakes. Mike has trained Norman to his HRCH,  MH title and Nellie to her HRCH, SH title. We currently don’t have a dog there for training as I am trying to train Gambler myself. It was a very nice sunny day the dogs and humans had a great time with a bbq afterwards.

Here are some pictures of the day.
