Sand Spring Chesapeakes would like to wish all our friends in Blogville a very Happy Easter!

Glory Learning Blind Work
Glory is going to be 16 months old come April 4th. She is doing single marks really well so John has started training her for force to the pile which will be her beginning work for learning how to run blinds. Blind retrieves are eventually going to be a retrieve of a bumper or a duck that she has not seen put out and she will then need to be handled to the blind by using hand signals and whistle stops. That is a whole other day of drills and training. By teaching her how to run to the pile John put out a green bucket (so it was easily seen in the snow) put bumpers by the pail, Glory got to watch all this so she knows where the bumpers are. He then lines her up about 20 feet from the bucket and tells her “Back”. Since she knows where the bumpers are she runs to them. He repeats this several times so that she learns when he lines her up and says back that she runs in a straight line until she gets to a bumper to bring back. John only does this drill 10 times a day so she doesn’t get board with it. He then throws some fun bumpers to keep her interested and happy so she will want to learn more.
This ‘N That Thursday
Today for This ‘N That Thursday I have a collection of photos that I took while training a bit last weekend. I wanted to work on some water blinds with Gambler so we had to go train below the dam where there is open water. There isn’t very much open water here as it is still cold and ice on the lakes. Gambler did very well with his blind. Glory did very well with her marks.
Wordless Wednesday ~Birds Flying High
Mr. Mink
On our walk the other day we were gracious to be able to see Mr. Mink playing on the bank of the river. He was bouncing all around the bank then he decided he would like to take a swim to the other side of the river. John said it was a male mink because of it’s size. He didn’t seem bothered that we were there and that the 2 dogs were running amuck.
Monday Mischief ~Sandhill Cranes
Today’s mischief started out as a routine walk to the dam to do a little training with Gambler and Glory. We were on our way with the dogs out ahead of us. Glory grabbed a big stick and thought she had to carry that along with her and play keep away with Gambler. It was her stick and she wasn’t letting him get it.
Glory took a break from running and laid down with her stick. She had no idea there were friends behind her wondering what she was doing.
Gambler and Glory ran and ran and still had no idea the Sandhill’s were there.
It took awhile but Gambler finally spied the Cranes. He just stood there and watched them without moving.
The cranes couldn’t take us getting closer, they are beginning to get very nervous and thinking about flying away.
Gambler couldn’t take standing there any longer, off he went to see if he could catch a crane.
I don’t think the cranes like the dogs being mischievous and checking them out. They could only take it so long before they got up and flew then Gambler could only take it so long before he chased them. He went quite a distance before I called him back.
This is a Blog Hop. Thanks to Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog , Luna, a Dog’s Life , and My Brown Newfies for setting up this hop. Please go to any of the sponsoring blogs to find out who else has been mischievous.

I Got A Pretty Cool Award
Misty Shores Chesapeakes is getting back in to the swing of blogville and has been doing a bit of catching up. In that catching up Misty Shores Chesapeakes  was nice enough to award Sand Spring Chesapeakes with the Blog Of The Year 2012 award. I am so happy to receive this award from them. She has a wonderful blog about her Chesapeakes so hop on over to  Misty Shores Chesapeakes and see what they are up to.
It is a bit different than other awards because you get to collect a star each time you are nominated. How cool is that!
Here are the rules:
1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award
2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.
3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them
5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience
6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…
Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!
Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!
When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!
There are a total of 6 stars to collect.
Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!
For more information check the FAQ on The Thought Palette.
Here are our picks for this award in no particular order and we want you to know how much we enjoyed reading each and every one of your blogs last year.
If you have a chance hop on over to one or all of the above blogs, they are some pretty wonderful blogs.
Thanks again Misty Shores Chesapeakes for nominating me for this great award.
Have a great Saturday everyone in Blogville.
