Nothing But Norman #46

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

We are headed to another AKC Master Hunter test with Norman’s son Gambler today. Hopefully this one will fair better than the one last Saturday. I hate to say it but Norman in his day failed some Master Hunter tests too so I really shouldn’t get so upset over it but I do. Today will be a better day!

Today I am joining Ruckus The Eskie for Sepia Saturday.

Today’s ribbon photo is of Norman holding all his ribbons from his Senior Hunter tests. The order of tests go Junior, Senior, Master.

FitDog Friday~Training

This week was hunt test training training training. Since Gambler didn’t fair to well with last weekends hunt test we have been busy training him for his hunt test tomorrow. This means that Glory gets trained too. She doesn’t get to compete yet since she is just getting over her heat cycle and you can’t run in a hunt test if you are in heat so she gets to just train. We trained in our hay field that is quite tall so they got their exercise pushing through the cover.

Here are some of the pictures I took.

Who is this cute little Labrador puppy?

This cute little bug checking out MK is my Grand Niece Mia. My niece Brittany and her boyfriend got their first puppy together. She is turning 8 weeks old on Friday and I got to puppysit for the first time Sunday afternoon. She was a joy to have and she got along well with the Sand Spring gang. MK was a little taken back because Mia had more energy then she did and she chased her a lot. Even know this little girl is not a curly dog we will be helping her owners train her and hopefully when she gets bigger hunt over her.
Mia with her first frozen pigeon at 7 weeks.
For Memorial Day I posted up some pictures of  the American Legion memorial where my dad’s brick in memory is. When I went there on Friday the brick wasn’t in place yet so I took Grandma back on Monday and the brick was in place. Here are the pictures I took that day.

That little flag I left behind for my dad. Thank you for your service dad.
Gamblers first AKC MH test.
Last Saturday we took Gambler to his first Master Hunter test. John handled Gambler as I don’t like to get up in front of people and perform plus Gambler acts better when John is running him. Last year when John started running him we had issues with him wanting to bring the birds back to me in the gallery. I thought he was over that but it showed on Saturday that he still loves his momma and wants to bring me the birds. The land triple was first and Gambler did very well retrieving all three marks until he was on the way back from the third mark you can see him do a loop and swing wide to come my way as John blew his whistle and called him in. He then set him up for the blind retrieve and you can see Gambler looking my way and then his mind goes to mush and it was all over then. Here is the video so you can see what he did and didn’t do. Gambler ended up failing on his land blind so thank you for your donation.

We have Gambler entered into another Master Hunter test this coming weekend, so I will be hiding and hopefully he will be listening better.

EXCITING NEWS……………………………..

Just got Glory’s OFA Hip’s and Elbow’s back. She has normal elbows and EXCELLENT hips!

I never imagined that Glory’s hips would come back as a excellent. That is the highest rating that OFA is really particular about giving out. I am super excited to have my first excellent in my Sand Spring lines. Now the wait begins for another 6 months to pass before she can be bred and hopefully have a litter of puppies.

Tasty Tuesday~HALO Liv-a-Littles From Chewy.com

png

Ding dong Chewy.com calling. We got our monthly sample from Chewy.com.

The dogs & MK were happy this review was for both of them.

Gambler stealing the treats again, he knows they are going to be yummy.

This month they got a sample of:

Halo Liv-a-Littles Grain-Free 100% Chicken Breast Freeze-Dried Dog & Cat Treats.

And YUMMY they were. All Three dogs loved them!

They had some really nice big pieces in the jar.

When I couldn’t find MK I would shake the treat jar and she would come running.

MK thought the were great too. She had to be really fast or the dogs would gobble hers up.

When I couldn’t find MK I would shake the treat jar and she would come running.

Here I come, did I hear the Halo jar shake?

Yummy!

These treats are so good MK sat in the Chewy box waiting for more.

Thank you very much Chewy and Halo for a wonderful treat.

Here’s what Chewy has to say about the Halo treats:

Halo Liv-a-Littles Grain-Free 100% Chicken Breast Freeze-Dried Dog & Cat Treats

100% pure chicken breast, plain and simple (and that’s a good thing!) Halo Liv-a-Littles Grain-Free 100% Chicken Breast Freeze-Dried Dog & Cat Treats are so simple, tasty, and healthy, every pet loves ’em. They’re freeze-dried to lock in the flavor and nutritional benefits of protein-rich chicken breast, and suitable for every stage of your pets’ lives. Cats and dogs agree: one more treat, please!

Key Benefits

  • Suitable for cats and dogs
  • All-natural chicken treat
  • 100% Grain-free
  • Serve on its own or crumble over food at mealtime

More treats please.

I liked these treats because they are for dogs and cats that way you don’t have to buy two different treats. They are freeze dried so they last a long time (not at my house) and I like that they are in big chunks that you can easily break into little pieces for training treats or to put on top of food to entice your pet to eat. They also come in Wild Salmon and Beef. A 2.2 oz jar is on sale now at Chewy.com for $7.29.

My gang gives these treats 4 paws up!

Black And White Sunday~Remembering Those Who Have Fallen

DSC_0488 - Copy

Gambler and I visited the Grand River Veterans Memorial in Markesan, WI. This is the town where I grew up. My dad was a Vietnam Veteran so I went there to visit his brick and to remember all those who have fallen. That statue used to be in a park right next to my house where I would go often and play and I was fascinated with that statue and would just stare at it. I’m so glad they moved it and put it in this special memorial.

Nothing But Norman #45

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Today we are attending a AKC Master Hunter retriever test with Norman’s son Gambler. This is the highest level of testing for AKC hunt tests. To do the tests in order and receive the titles on your dog you run and pass 4 Junior Hunter tests then you move up to running and passing 4 Senior Hunter tests then you move up to running and passing 5 Master Hunter tests. When we were running hunt tests with Norman many moons ago Norman ran his first Master Hunter test when he was 6 years old and received his title when he was 7 years old. Times have changed and we became more proficient in our training and are able to run Gambler in his first Master Hunter test a couple weeks after he turned 3 years old. Now we may not finish his title until he is 7 but hopefully he will do good and finish his title this year. If he doesn’t there are no worries and we will plug away at it next year. Norman was our first hunt test dog and our first Master Hunter. He made us so proud!

We started running Norman in AKC Junior Hunter tests when he was 6 months old, that is the youngest age you can start entering them in AKC tests. He passed 4 out of 5 tests for his title by the time he was 10 months old. That is pretty good for a youngster. Here is the photo of him holding his ribbons.

Since it is also Sepia Saturday and we are joining Ruckus The Eskie here is the picture in Sepia. I really like this look.

Parade you fav pet photo’s , stories , ANYTHING you want! The only rule is . . . .
There are no rules!
And that’s the way we like it! Who needs rules at a party anyhow?
BUT it is always a good idea to link back to your hosts, and maybe even give them a follow!

Also, this hop consists mostly of kitties , there are a couple doggies that are involved, but the majority are kitties, so one of the reasons Melissa and are now co hosting is to let you all know that this hop is DOG FURIENDLY as well!

FitDog Friday~Pond Fun

This weeks FitDog Friday exercise was pond fun. Of course we had our normal training on the pond for our upcoming hunt test with weekend with the Gman. Gman is entered into his first AKC Master Hunter test. This is the highest level test for AKC hunting retriever. After our training I let all three dogs out for some pond fun which entailed me throwing bumpers into the pond and the gang jumping in and swimming out to get them. They swim really hard when in competition to get one so this was great exercise. The also got exercise by running around the pond thinking if they did that they could jump in closer to the bumper and beat the other dogs there. Nellie is a great one for this. She is also a great one for getting a bumper and swimming to the other side of the pond, getting out and standing there guarding her bumper so the others can’t get it. This then becomes exercise for me and I have to truck around the pond to get over by her to throw the bumper again. It’s a back and forth around and around the pond for us all.
