2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 24,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 9 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Tasty Tuesday~Christmas Yogurt

We made some super easy frozen Christmas yogurt treats. All you need is yogurt, red and green food coloring and silicone molds.

Today Chef Gambler is going to make Christmas yogurt.

Put some red and green food coloring in some yogurt, put in silicone and freeze, wala

easy pezie

Taste test time.

Chef Gambler trying his out immediately.

Nellie not sure if it’s time to eat hers.

Ok it’s safe to eat.

This is a fun treat.

The gang loved them. They loved them so much I have to share the blooper story and picture with you. I was setting up the photo shoot so I put the treats on the table outside. Gambler tried jumping up before I had his apron on so I put the treats on the ledge of the porch. Of course they jumped up there sent the plate sailing 12 ft down and quickly ran down and gobbled up the treats before the photo shoot.

Gobble gobble gobble

Needless to say they got new treats for the photo shoot. Gambler ran so hard he ripped the ties right off his apron and got it all muddy so some repairs are in order.

Monday Mischief~Prezzie’s

The Sand Spring gang scored with the prezzie’s for Christmas. I scored on the Jones Natural Chews when I was at our local feed store, they had a buy one get one free deal so I bought them all up. I wrapped them all up and put them under the tree because I know how much Gambler loves to open things. I bought Glory and Gambler each a bottle toy and then I won a give away hosted by Oz The Terrier so the puller toy came right in time for Christmas.

Nellie could care less about opening prezzie’s so she was off to the side just watching. Glory will open some but when she grabs one and starts opening it Gambler comes in and takes it away from her. Gambler will grab one from under the tree and open it go back for another open a corner of it and go back for another until they are all opened a little bit. He is a prezzie hog for sure.

What do we have here? Prezzie’s?

Oh look the mother load.

Glory opening up a toy.

Glory guarding her Jones Chew.

I love prezzie’s.

What do we have here?

They really wrapped this up good.

It’s a puller toy.

It’s a two pack.

It’s got me!

I can’t get this off.

Stop back on Friday to see more pictures of the gang playing with their puller toy.

Do your dogs open up their own presents?

Happy Saturday All!

 Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. The SS gang had a great Christmas. They enjoyed their Jones bones and played with their new puller toy (more on that later). It was sad that this was the second Christmas with out our Norman. Here is a picture of Norman when he was about 2 and Brook at Christmas.

He was with us in the ones still living. Here are a couple of Sepia photos of the gang this Christmas.

FitDog Friday~Odd’s And End’s In Fitness

This week the gang was burning a few calories in some odd’s and end’s fitness. What is odd’s and end’s fitness well it is fitness with only burning a few calories. This week we did a chewy.com photo shoot, how did the gang end up burning calories well let me tell you.

First off I was getting ready for the photo shoot, I started putting the props outside when someone came over to pick something up. I let the dogs outside so they weren’t jumping on the guy. While I was talking to the guy and getting him his stuff this is what happened while I was busy.

Guess who thought this would be great fitness?

What!!! I shouldn’t be doing this to burn calories?

Glory helping out with the ripping fitness.

Popping bubble wrap is great jaw strengthening.

This is the funnest fitness we done all year.

Then when we were doing the photo shoot some extra calories were burned while taste testing their tasty treat.

I must pick this up, it is my weight training.

I must carry it, it is my weight strengthening.

I must run down the steps and into the middle of the lawn, endurance training.

Hows that for burning calories while eating?

Gambler thought he should carry his bowl around too.

See you can burn calories while eating. Granted it wasn’t much but it was fun doing it.

Stop back next year to see what the SS gang does to stay in shape. Have a great New Year’s Fit Doggys!

Merry Christmas~Barks And Bytes Style

The co-hosts for Barks And Bytes are Linda from 2browndawgs and Jodi from Heart Like A Dog.
Christmas Edition
Sand Spring Chesapeakes would like to wish everyone on line and in Blogville a very Merry Christmas! Hope your holidays are safe and blessed with great food, family and friends. Give all your furkids a big hug from Gambler, Glory, Nellie and MK!
My favorite Christmas memory is that each Christmas Eve our family would go to my mom’s brothers house for supper and gift opening. My grandparents on my mom’s side would be there also. My brother and I have kept that tradition as on Christmas eve we will be going to my brothers out and spending the night with their family.
Second Christmas photo shoot pictures.
Now the big question……Has Gambler been Naughty…..or…….Nice????
Again Merry Christmas to all!

Ding dong Chewy.com calling. We got our monthly sample from Chewy.com.

It’s the big brown truck that delivers goodness.

It’s a chewy style Christmas

We wonder what kind of goodness is in the chewy box?

Our chewy box was filled with Merrick Venison Holiday Stew.

Time to see what’s in the can.

Nice big chunks in just the right amount of gravy.

Merrick Classic Grain-Free Venison Holiday Stew Recipe Canned Dog Food, 13.2-oz, case of 12

Hounds love the holidays! While Bruno probably doesn’t like it when you put fuzzy reindeer antlers on top of his head, he’ll definitely embrace the season with a bowl full of Merrick’s Venison Holiday Stew. Full of venison, red jacket new potatoes, carrots, zucchini, peas and red delicious apples, this dish hits your pup’s food bowl right from the stove!

Time for the SS raindeer taste test.

Raindeer ready set go!

No hesitation the raindeer dug right in.

Raindeer Gambler didn’t want any of the other raindeer to get his snack.

MK having her taste test, not to be left out.

Very tasty.

Nellie licking the bowl clean.

When all is done it’s time to make sure none is left in the can.
