Pose A Pet App #RescueRevolution ~A Way To Help Your Local Rescue/Shelter

I was recently contacted by Rachel over at My Kid Has Paws if I would like to spread the word about a great new app for your phone that will help out rescue groups and shelters. I of course was interested in learning more about this as any way to help out rescue groups and shelters would be a great thing. Sounds like a win-win for both organizations.

After Rachel contacted me I downloaded the app and checked it out.

Gambler and Nellie posing to the Duck sound.

The free version you can take pictures using the sounds but you can’t save them to your phone or make flyers for animals needing a forever home.

With the premium version for $2.99 you get 20 more sounds,  you can save photos/flyers to your phone and share the photos without the pose a pet logo. Making flyers is easy.

Clink to go to Pose A Pet website.

What is the Pose A Pet? – Pose A Pet™ is an app that was created to help you get great pictures of your pet by using the same sounds that professional pet photographers use to get your pets attention.

The creators of Pose A Pet™ are committed to animal rescue and their app is just the first step in a major plan to find homes for every animal. If you are involved in animal rescue, Pose A Pet ™ app not only helps get a great photo of your foster or animal in need, it also instantly helps you create an eye-catching virtual flyer that headlines any need from transport to foster to donation to adoption. They can be instantly shared to your social media network as well as on our sister site, Rescuerevolution.com.

Isn’t this a great flyer? All done on your phone with Pose A Pet ™ app.

Over 65% of households have a dog. Animal lovers are not only interested in getting great photos of their pets, they are also interested in helping homeless animals find their homes. Our Pose A Pet ™ App offers a tool that does both!

Not only have the creators created a great app, but they are going to give 50% of the revenue earned during the week of March 30th through April 5th to a rescue or shelter of our choice.

What Organization Will The Proceeds Go To This Week?

I have chosen Chesapeake Retriever Rescue Of Wisconsin (CRROW) to receive the revenue from this app.  Starting today, every time the Premium Pose A Pet App is downloaded, CRROW will get 50%.

A little bit about CRROW  taken from their website:

The Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI is a group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and finding them loving forever homes. We rescue adoptable purebred or mixed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers from shelters, strays, and from owners who can no longer care for their dogs. We are staunch promoters of spaying and neutering, and no dog is placed by our organization without this being done before placement. We also educate potential adopters about the breed to make sure a Chesapeake is the right dog for their family.

How Can You Help?

You can help by downloading the app this week!  Every time you download the app you will be helping CRROW  and rescues and shelters all around the nation.  Downloading the app is great, but CRROW  will receive more funds if you purchase app upgrades.

If you are a pet blogger, and want to join our 2015 campaign, send an email to mykidhaspawsblog@gmail.com to get the shelter or rescue of your choice to benefit from the app downloads and proceeds.

Nothing But Norman #89

Happy Saturday All!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Since I had a inquiry about using Gambler as a stud (Norman’s son) I thought I would post up pictures of Norman’s two litters. The first litter was when Norman was 4 years old to Abby, this is how I come about Nellie.

The second litter was when Norman was 10.5 yrs old to Fatty, this is how I came about Gambler.

For my sepia picture I chose this photo of Norman carrying two bumpers, this was his trademark. Since I posted up pond photos yesterday I thought I would show you a picture of our pond right after it was dug with Norman having fun in it. You can’t tell since this is a sepia photo but that is not grass he is walking on it is dirt from just being dug.

Pond Opening~FitDog Friday

Our small pond finally opened up after some freezing cold weather this past winter. Last week we took a walk down to the pond just to see if it was open and low and behold it was open. Of course Glory had to be the first one to jump in then the others followed.

Glory going in.

The gang only spend 30 minutes down at the pond, most of it was running around the pond and only a small amount of time swimming. The water hasn’t had a chance to warm up yet so I didn’t let them swim as long as they would of liked to. You can be sure there will be more trips to the pond and longer time spend swimming to get the gang in shape this spring.

The fun and games continue every Friday with FitDog Friday, the weekly Blog Hop brought to you by To Dog With LoveSlimDoggy and Emma from Mygbgvlife to promote a healthy active lifestyle for pets (and their people, too!). Join in every Friday by linking up your FitDog story or visiting the blogs in the Hop.

#petbox @petbox ~ Thursday Barks And Bytes

Yesterday Glory was giving out raspberries, who was she giving them too you ask? She was giving them to Gambler and Nellie because….

A couple weeks ago the Sand Spring gang was the lucky winner of a getpetbox.com#petbox, @petbox giveaway over at Groovy Goldendoodles blog. If you don’t know who the Groovy Goldendoodles are you best get on over there and check out Harley and his new puppy Jax, you will enjoy their adventures and will be able to watch Jax grow.

I was so super excite to find out we won. Poor Glory has been put through the wringer with our last St. Patrick’s Day photo shoot (she hates photo shoots when she has to dress up and sit next to Gambler who growls at her) so I decided that Glory should enjoy opening this box and having it all to herself.

This box is all mine?

Here is Glory having too much fun with the items in the box.

She was having so much fun, enjoying this box all to herself she didn’t mind this photo shoot. She was across the lawn and I told her to go get something out of her box and she went racing over to it grabbed something and then ran around with it proud as ever. I did this until all things were out of the box.

A great fun game.

There were a couple of toys, couple of chewies and a couple bags of treats. It was a fun box for sure. Once Glory was done with her fun then Gambler and Nellie got to come out and see what all the fun was about.

Gambler having fun with the chicken.

Even MK had to join in the fun.

Thanks again Groovy Goldendoodles for a great giveaway.

Cleaning The Pipes~Monday Mischief

Last week I got a inquiry about using Gambler as a stud. Gambler is going to be four years old this coming May and hasn’t had any hanky panky  so I’m assuming there might be some rust in the pipes. Who wants to pay for rust? Not I if I was buying so this was a good time to make sure that he also had swimmers, no sense doing a breeding waiting a month for a confirmed pregnancy to find out there are no puppies and it’s because the stud dog is sterile. I didn’t want that happening to me and Gambler so off to the clinic we went for a Brucellosis test, pipe cleaning and a semen check.

They tell me to go into a room and grab a magazine….what’s up with that?

Gambler was a willing fast participant. We got the goods and surprising no rust!

Time to look under the microscope to see if any swimmers.

This is the view under low power, lots and lots of swimmers very active little buggers.

Looking at the swimmers under high power now to check for double heads, bent tails, dead ones.

If you would like to see the active swimmers you can by watching this video.

ahhh where’s my cigarette?

At some point I do plan on collecting and freezing Gamblers semen. At that time they will do a proper semen analysis on him with numbers to tell me how much sperm he is producing, how motile they are and percentage of abnormal ones. This day I just wanted to make sure he had swimmers that were alive and he did so if he does have a breeding he should get the deed done on his end.

If you are planning a natural breeding each party should have a Brucellosis test done.

Taken from the AKC Canine Health Foundation webpage:

Brucellosis: An Overview

Brucellosis is a bacterial infection which affects the reproductive organs of both male and female dogs. The disease is spread by body fluids, with the main route of transmission being by sexual means. In addition to sexual means the disease can be transmitted by ingesting contaminated fluids such as vaginal discharge or urine. Airborne transmission is very rare but has been reported. The disease spreads quickly among dogs that are kept in closely confined areas especially during breeding times and when abortions occur. You can read the rest of the article here.

Basically Brucellosis is a disease that can cause litters to abort and cause sterility in both the stud and bitches it can also be spread to humans so for sure don’t want that in my kennel, it’s a breeders nightmare so best to take all precautions.

I will keep you posted on Gamblers inquiry.
