2017 UKC Premier – Dock Diving With Ultimate Air Dogs

Last week Josey’s family and I along with Guilty attended the 2017 UKC Premier. We went to the Premier because Josey was invited to the Top Ten competition for Conformation. While there Guilty and Josey were entered in different events. One of the events that they were entered in was dock diving. Ultimate Air Dogs hosted this event, neither of our dogs have gotten a title in this event. Josey has jumped with them before but never had 5 consistent jumps for a title. Guilty has never jumped off a dock before so we knew it would be interesting.

The dock crew Willow the Crawfish.

Willow was our dock crew, she was the best Crawfish up on the dock. She threw for Josey and Guilty. She did a excellent job placing that bumper just right so that the dogs could maintain their jumps into one category.

Go Josey you want to jump 15-20 feet.

Josey going for another splash.

Guilty’s turn at a splash, we were aiming for anything under 10 ft.

Josey going strong.

Guilty finally lifting off the dock but still belly flopping.

Of course I had to take a video from the backside.

Josey having fun!

Oh no what’s this? A baby head in the pool? Save it Guilty!

For Guilty’s title jump she got to retrieve the creepy baby head. She loved it! Showing off to the crowd as she swam out of the pool.

Here are the categories for the jumps, you need 5 jumps in one category to receive a title.

United Novice Jumper (UNJ): 1″ to 9’11”
United Junior Jumper (UJJ): 10′ to 14’11”
United Senior Jumper (USJ): 15′ to 19’11”
United Master Jumper (UMJ): 20′ to 22′ 5″
United Ultimate Jumper (UUJ): 22’6″ and up

We have 2 new dock diving titles in the Sand Spring gang. Guilty has her United Novice Jumper title and Josey has her United Senior Jumper title. Way to go girls, what a fun Saturday!

Yay on 2 new titles. ICongrats!

If you remember that pretty chocolate lab I babysat last fall….he is just now getting into dock diving. Despite being a bit timid in new situations, he took to diving instantly!

Did they let you sign up for as many tries as you wanted? I don’t know how dock-diving works. The terms Novice, Junior, Senior seem odd to me because in agility you advance through the various levels….Novice, then Open, then Excellent, and finally Masters. But with diving it seems you are a Novice forever if you aren’t a long jumper.

Congratulations, girls! If I could choose just one sport to do with my dogs, it would be this. I see them at fairs sometimes and it is so much fun to watch!
