New Year’s Eve Party

What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?

Gman says he is the king of the Hamm’s and is seeing if Glory or Guilty will change that. Stay tuned to see what the gang does and how they bring in the New Year.

We hope that everyone stays safe and brings in the New Year with good health.

That’s A Whole Lot Of Lute

Sand Spring Outlaw “Josey” with all her cumulative lute over the years. She was born 7/11/15 to HR U-CH Sand Spring No Gut’s No Glory SH CGCA CGCU THDN TT and HR CH SRR’S Noth Point Thunder Bay SH. Tom and Josey have been competing in many different venues since she was a wee little girl. They have done well in her 3.5 years. Irene is going to make a quilt with all her ribbons so they set up a photo shoot with all her lute to have a picture for memories. Thanks to Tom for all that he does with Josey, they have proven their selves over and over again and their not done yet! Good luck in the events coming up!

Merry Christmas From The Sand Spring Gang

“Brace” Yourself ~ Tuck And Roll

This past weekend the Sand Spring Gang and the Crawfish Gang competed at the UKC Dodge County Canine Club dog show. Crawdaddy Tom wanted to enter the brace competition that was being offered during this show so I said “why the heck not” we’re always up for a good time and laugh. We entered the brace competition earlier in the year and it was a circus act to put it mildly but it left many smiles and laughs so in the end it was a hit, plus it made us some new dog friends as the crazy chessie people flock together so we wanted to entertain the public again.

Crawdaddy Tom and the brace participates.
Talking to the judge and getting ready to show in brace.

Brace is offered at the Dodge County Canine Club UKC shows. It is a class where you have 2 like animals showing together. They need to be on the same side of the handler, when the handler shows them they should move together so it looks like one dog is moving. The judge will examine each dog and have you gait like you would if you were showing one dog in the ring. Doing this can take some expertise and grace. It shouldn’t be done when your intact male dog is living near intact females that are in heat at the time of the show unless you want some excitement at the dog show which is what we wanted this day.

Crawdaddy Tom having two left feet and beginning his descend.

All was going good until Tom decided to jog with Riggs and Josey, somehow his feet got messed up and he tripped, not sure if it was him or the dogs that tripped him up but he was going down.

It was a tuck and roll!

Tom’s foot hit the wall not his head so no one was harmed during this event. Even know we all hurd a big thug we didn’t know what all was going on.

Hey this is a G rated show!

When we come to a dog show it is a family oriented place so to speak a G rated show, during the brace class it was rated R! Riggs took advantage of the girls being in heat, himself being horny and Crawdaddy on the floor so Crawdaddy looses and takes one for the team with a head romp! Poor Josey had no idea what the hell that bastard was doing or why!

Back in action.

The president of the club came out a running, the bystanders (me and Lynne) videoed and took pictures as we weren’t letting this awesome moment go unrecorded! We were really hoping Crawdaddy Tom was ok as we were laughing secretly at him, ok it wasn’t so secret if you listen to the video.

The trick is to walk not run!

Tom learned that the trick to not falling down is to walk with the team not run.

First place performance for sure!
The club gave Tom some bandages in his winning basket for his injuries (which were none, lol)
Second show.

At the dog show there are two shows, the tuck and roll happened in show one so what would show two bring?

The exam.
Walking not running, being safe.
The team won!
The winners, in more way than one!

Show two wasn’t as eventful, we were sad we didn’t get to laugh again. We thank Crawdaddy Tom for being such a good sport and for the dogs to continue on with their mission without missing a beat. The brace class will never be the same and it will be happening again.

Go put your depends on as you will be peeing in your pants.

Your Welcome!

Gambler Rally Obedience 2 – Second Pass

On December 14, 2018 Gambler and I competed in our second Rally Obedience 2 event. It was hosted by Dodge County Canine Club and held at Western Waukesha County Dog Training Club in Ixonia. We have been doing a bit of training but not hard core training so I didn’t know what was in store for us since Gambler was coming to the event while the girls at home were in heat the past 2 weeks, that can really mess with a dogs mind.

Our Rally Run

If you watched the video you saw that Gambler was indeed a very good boy. I was so surprised at how well he did and he didn’t even try to hump my leg during the run like he has in the past. Once we crossed the finished line and I told Gambler good boy and patted his chest he jumped right up on my leg and didn’t let me down!

This is the rally course we did.

We were team 103 so our score was 98 out of 100 points.
Gambler and his ribbons.

Gambler and I competed against 3 other teams. We got 98/100 points which gave us first place and a qualifying run.

Gambler and I

We had a great night! Of course we didn’t do it perfect so there is always something to work on which is fine with us. We enjoy going to training class and hanging out with our friends so we will be going back to class after the holidays. Until then we will practice on our own as we are signed up for two upcoming AKC rally novice events at the end of the month and the first weekend in January. We haven’t run any AKC rally courses so we have to start at the bottom level which is novice. Stay tuned to hear how that goes.

Guilty And Norman’s Surgical AI

Monday December 3rd was the day according to Guilty’s previous progesterone tests that she should be ready to be bred via surgical insemination. Guilty came into heat on November 16, we waited 8 days before we started progesterone testing. The progesterone testing would tell us her hormone level so we knew where she was at in her heat cycle. We drew blood again three days later then another three days later than one day later. According to those results she ovulated sometime Friday night. After ovulation the eggs need time to mature while doing so the progesterone levels continue to rise. For a surgical AI the progesterone should be between 20-30ng/ml that way the semen is introduced right when the eggs are mature so they can get down to business and attach. Now that isn’t an exact science to the high level as some bitches have gotten pregnant over that level when I asked Dr. Greer about the timing for the surgical ai.

We arrived at Veterinary Village in Lomira at 3 p.m. to start all her presurgical testing.

Blood was drawn first to check her progesterone level today to make sure everything was right on track. Pre surgical bloodwork was done as well to make sure her internal organs were working up to par and that the surgical procedure would be safe for her.

Guilty watching the staff at work.

Second was a ECG – Electro Cardiogram to make sure there were no abnormalities with her heart.

Mom, am I gonna carry the golden child I keep hearing about?

Guilty is getting very very sleepy, she was given her pre anesthetics to make her sleepy for her IV cathater and induction medication before her general anesthesia.

Prepping for her IV Catheter placement.

Placing the catheter, this will be where the induction anesthetic goes and the IV fluids during the surgery.

Dr. Greer sporting her surgical attire! I had given Dr. Greer some Guilty shirts and she chose this occasion to wear it. I was totally surprised. I wore Veterinary Village’s International Canine Semen Bank shirt in honor of Norman who is on ice at the clinic.

I told Dr. Greer that she was really clever thinking of wearing Guilty’s shirt, that I didn’t even think of that. She said “well I can fix that”, and she tossed me my own shirt. Dr. Greer delivered Guilty into this world on 2/6/16 this day is going full circle.

Norman has entered the building.

And so it begins, Guilty is getting her induction anesthetic.

Shaving her abdomen so there is a sterile field for the surgery.

Saying hi to Norman, he’s on dry ice waiting.

Moving Guilty into the OR and prepping her for surgery.

Dr. Greer starting the procedure.

Thawing Norman getting him ready to come back to life.

Double checking one last time that it is indeed Norman in the tube.

Warming Norman up.

Checking Norman under the microscope to make sure he is alive and kicking before implanting. No sense implanting dead semen.

Dr. Griffiths transporting Norman into the OR, Dr. Greer said Guilty’s uterus looks great.

Drawing up the semen.

Guilty meet Norman, Norman meet Guilty.

Two thumbs up! Norman is in place.

Finishing up the surgery.

And she’s done! Time to recover Guilty.

Guilty is in recovery, waiting for the anesthetic to clear her system and then she will wake up, once she swallows they can remove the breathing tube.

Hello Guilty, the golden egg is in place, you hopefully will carry the golden child.

We were able to leave the clinic shortly after she woke up. Once home daddy took care of his little girl. Guilty recovered nicely from the surgery. Now we wait for the ultra sound to confirm a pregnancy in 30-33 days.

A huge shout out to the staff at Veterinary Village for another job well done. Thank you Dr. Greer and Dr. Griffiths for all that you do, you have a great staff and us breeders would be lost without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Happy 7th Birthday Glory
