Slammer received an award from the American Chesapeake Club. The prestigious Dual award. An award because Slammer and I received his AKC Conformation title while Slammer and John received his AKC Master Hunter title. This award is very special to Sand Spring Chesapeakes as he is the first of our chessies that we bred that accomplished this title. We’ve had Master Hunter titles but never a show champion. So to say we are ecstatic is an under statement. Thank you to all our friends and mentors who encouraged us to venture out into the show world. Hunt world well that was a given. Slammer was bred, raised, trained and handled by John and I. Thank you to the ACC for recognizing the talent the chessies can have.
The Crown of Two Worlds
One crown for the canvas of the show ring light,
Where judges’ keen eyes prove his form is right.
With balanced head and tail held high,
The perfect image for a passing eye.
He walks the line with poise and steady grace,
The perfect mirror of his storied race.
Another crown, not polished, but earned in the field,
Where instinct, will, and rugged prowess are revealed.
Through marsh and briar, scenting on the wind,
His every motion a purpose-driven trend.
He breaks the cover, steady to the gun,
And holds the point until the work is done.
They are two dogs, yet one in noble heart,
Mastering two very different arts.
The flash of silver, the rumble of the chase,
Find their purpose in a single, cherished space.
A dual champion, honored, proven true,
The best of both worlds, in a coat of sun and dew.
