Blogging Friends Books

I’m so far behind on my reading and so far behind on posting up that I read a couple of books by my blogging friends. When I was in Saskatchewan hunting (back in the end of September) I got a chance to catch up on some books that I’ve wanted to read but seem to not find the time when I’m at home. Without internet you have lots of down time to catch up and that is what I did.

I read:

The Returns 2 ~ Showstoppers by [Clinton, M. K.]

Taken from Amazon“The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.” quote from The Returns 2 ~ Showstoppers

The Returns are back!

The Returns, whose human lives were mistakenly cut short, found themselves being returned to Earth in the bodies of some of the funniest dogs in creation! Now, they have a new case to sink their teeth into. Your favorite fun-loving, junk food eating, crime fighting canines are once again partnered with FBI Agent Aiden Davenport. Someone is stealing the world’s top show dogs and the boys go undercover to sniff out the criminals.

Enjoy the laughter and adventure as the gang takes you on a thrilling journey from the quaint French Quarter of New Orleans to the exciting crowds of Times Square in New York City.

Showstoppers is the second book in the Returns series. Although it may be read as a stand-alone book, it is recommended to begin with first in the series, The Returns http://www.amazon.com/The-Returns-ebook/dp/B00AFMVTBM/

The Returns Series is recommended for readers age 12 – 112!

I did read M.K. Clinton’s first in the series The Returns which was excellent I was was happy to have won a copy of her second book The Returns 2 Showstoppers. It picked right up where The Returns left off with the same main characters that you grew to love. I especially loved reading these books as I follow Barking From The Bayou where I get to see Bentley and Pierre each day so it was like I already knew the characters in the book.  It was awesome to read the adventures of The Returns on another case this time involving the stealing of show dogs. I enjoyed reading this book as a dog show competitor it was written like you were right at the show. I just love all the puns and one liners. When you want a light read that involves dogs this is the book for you.

You can follow The Returns on Facebook, and you can follow along with Barking From The Bayou Blog here.

The second book I read was:

Bark and Lunge: Saving My Dog from Training Mistakes by [Neumeyer, Kari]

From AmazonBark and Lunge is the winner of three 2015 national book awards: the National Indie Excellence Award and the Sponsor’s Choice Award, a Readers’ Favorite Gold Medal, and a USA Best Book Award.
How do you make sure the dog you love never bites anyone (again)?

Kari and Rob are as devoted to their German shepherd puppy, Isis, as two dog parents can be. Kari’s the disciplinarian, struggling to follow every instruction to the letter. Rob’s the laid-back dad, more of a littermate, happy as long as he can practice jiu-jitsu with the dog.

As she grows, Isis’s behavior escalates from frustrating to dangerous when she bites someone. Kari and Rob learn that some of the old-fashioned advice they followed may have contributed to Isis’s aggression. Eventually, they’re shown a better way to calm an anxious and fearful dog.

“Prospective puppy/dog owners can save themselves a lot of heartbreak by reading Bark and Lunge, which tells the story of what can go wrong when a puppy is not properly socialized and when unsuspecting owners are bullied into using aversive training techniques.” – Dr. Ian Dunbar, founder of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers

“Kari and Rob’s love for their German shepherd Isis shines through every page of this moving saga. Their journey through various training techniques and treatments is a testament to their relentless dedication to help Isis to live a normal life. Many dog owners will relate to their story, and even those who can’t will empathize and find it a fascinating read.” – Nicole Wilde, author of Hit by a Flying Wolf: True Tales of Rescue, Rehabilitation and Real Life with Dogs and Wolves

Once I picked up this book I couldn’t put it down, it kept me interested. As a Veterinary Technician and a person who trains my own dogs I was very interested in reading about Kari’s experience training Isis so that I might be able to help someone in the future. It was interesting to read what different trainers would tell her and hear about the results. This poor couple what they went through with their first dog as a couple is more than anyone should have to go through. They were doing everything right as they were told and it just broke my heart. After I read the book I took it to work and one of my co-workers took it home to read as she was about to get a Doberman and any help in training that she could get or take away from the book she wanted to find out, she wrote me later that night telling me she read the whole book as well in one sitting.

You can follow Kari’s blog here.

Now to find time so I can read some more books!

I loved all of these books too! I don’t get to read as much as I’d like either; and pretty much had to give up on doing book reviews for the blog. 🙁
