follow-up-friday

I am excited today as I am Co-Hosting FUF with Jodi. This is my second Co-Hosting blog post with Jodi and I can’t tell you how Jodi has been a great blog friend to me. I haven’t been following her blog Heart Like A Dog long or never met her but she truly has been a special friend to me especially now that I am going threw a rough time with my buddy Norman. So why don’t you hop on over and see what her fur babies Sampson and Delilah are up to!

Marsh has taken over the dog room! I might have to rearrange the living room so I can enjoy watching Marsh on her cat tree.

Another picture of Gman in a different truck. Can’t keep a boy out of his trucks.

DUSTY ROSE says:

Oh Gman. You sure like to show off your agility.

2BROWNDAWGS says:

You are a very good jumper G-man.

DOGS N PAWZ says:

OMG! G-man is very athletic and talented to be able to jump through that window! That is awesome.

Yes Gman is very athletic and he can’t control himself some days. He is always on top of something. I do think he would make a great agility dog but for now I have enough on my plate with training and running hunt tests.

I had 2 blog posts on Tuesday. Besides Tuesday’s Tails I did a blog on Osteosarcoma. This was a very hard post to write as I was crying the entire time. I needed to write it thou as I didn’t want it to be a shock when my Facebook friends or Blog friends heard one day that Norman was gone. I needed to tell you all ahead of time what we were going through. I can’t thank you all enough for all your very kind words and prayers for us. I truly am blessed to be a part of such a loving and caring social network. You all make me smile when I am sad.

I need to take a moment to specially thank two other blog friends.

First I want to thank Flea over at Jones Natural Chews, she took time to write a Helping Friends blog post where she mentioned Norman and what he is going through. You can read about it here, as there are more friends that need prayers for their sick pets as well as prayers for the one’s that have went over The Rainbow Bridge. Hugs to everyone going through a difficult time right now.

Second I need to thank Lisa over at Dawg N Pawz who also did a shout out on Norman and my behalf. You didn’t have to do the kind thing you did and I wanted to let you know it meant the world to me to see it on your blog. You bloggers are the best!

I need also to thank all of you who have send me emails, private messages and left me notes on facebook and for those who have shared your stories with me I can’t thank you enough. It’s nice to know I have a whole lot of friends out there when I need one. Bless you all!

2BROWNDAWGS says:

Thinking about what I would do it in the same situation, I think I would want to do exactly as you are doing.

SUE says:

You’re doing the right thing for him in loving him and giving him the best days of his life.

MISTY SHORES CHESAPEAKES says:

I think you are doing exactly the right thing for you and Norman.

Thank you, it is nice to hear this. One often wonders if you are doing the right thing and it is nice to know others would do the same thing or have had to go through the same disease. Nice to have friends to share their stories with me, no matter how sad they are they help.

HEART LIKE A DOG (@HEARTLIKEADOG) says:

I think you are very brave for sharing this and laying your heart out there. Your bravery has touched me and I only hope I can be as strong and brave as you are if the time comes that I am faced with the unfaceable.

Thank you Jodi for saying I am brave, some day’s I don’t feel very brave. It helps that I have a great support system and when I am feeling sad I know I can PM anyone of you and you will be there for me and make me feel better and I thank you all for that so that is what bravery is about.

SLIMDOGGY (@MYSLIMDOGGY) says:

You are right to take it day by day, you will know when the time is right. Great to see those pics of him in his glory with a big smile on his face!

Norman hasn’t a clue what is going on, he is the most happy dog I know. His tail never stops wagging. Picture of Norman from last Saturday.

Gambler loves to ride in any vehicle, this time he was doing no where’s. We were at the Premier and he jumped in the truck when I went to get something out. He had to get out and stay in his dog box.

This ‘N That Thursday

Thanks to Hawk at BrownDogCBR we have been awarded The Versatile Blogger award.

versatileblogger

We are so proud to accept this wonderful award, thank you Hawk for thinking of us. I have it on my awards page displaying it proudly. I’m going to cheat and let my fellow bloggers who haven’t received this award grab the badge and display it proudly on your page. I don’t have many blogs that I follow yet so I would be awarding this award to people who have gotten it already.

That concludes this weeks FUF thank you Jodi for letting me host this day with you again. It was fun!

Such an incredibly difficult time you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are surrounded (virtually) by people who know and understand how heartbreaking this is. You can most certainly count on us to be there for you, no matter what.

hi JoAnn, thanks for co-hosting FUF with me this week, it’s a pleasure sharing this co-hosting job with you.

Thank you for your kind words about me too, as you and I have discussed we both have dogs that are our soul mates (I’m crying now, LOL) Not surprising you and Norman have been weighing heavily on my mind and heart this week. That post you wrote on Tuesday was beautiful and I think faced with what you are faced with, we would make the same decision. I’m glad you wrote about it and I’m glad you shared what your decision was and why, it makes perfect sense (to me anyway.)

You can PM me anytime you feel like venting, ranting, crying. I promise I will probably be crying right along with you.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

BTW, I love the color of the walls in the dog’s room. 🙂

I am truly so sad about Norman. I have been an admirer of his from afar for some time. (Before you started blogging regularly.) I cannot imagine how difficult this is on you, but I am so happy to hear that Norman is as happy as ever. I am also grateful that you shared his story. I love that picture of him with the duck!

Congrats on your award. It is well deserved.

    Have a fabulous weekend!

Thank you for co-hosting FUF. I’m glad to hear that Norman doesn’t have a clue.

I hope you have a lot of good time left with him. I will pass on a bit of advice that someone gave to me when our Abby’s bone cancer was getting worse: make sure you have pics of you and Norman together, or you and your whole family. I reallly appreciated that advice! Since I am always behind the camera, we had almost no pics of Abby, me and the hubs together. We had my nephew’s girlfriend who is fab with a camera take some pics of all of us and they are a real treasure now.

    Hang in there.

Jackie, thank you for your advice, I don’t have many pictures of Norman and John together so I started taking some the other day. I have a bunch of me but do need some more recent ones. I keep thinking of things and really should right them down about him before he goes.

    Fabulous FUF!!

I am always in awe of our Chessie’s, they are the most stoic breed I have ever met and they never let anything get them down or in their way. Always happy and wanting to please us. I am so grateful that our paths have crossed and I have had the opportunity to get to know you and your wonderful dogs through the awesome social networks we have. Norman is a very handsome majestic fella!!

You are so sweet and I do too 🙂 I am thinking about coming to Wisconsin next year to have Maia’s hips done, I heard Dr Link is retiring this year but apparently Dr Sondel, who trained with him has opened his own practice in Madison Wisconsin, maybe we can hook up for dinner or something if that is close to you.

      2. Sand Spring Chesapeakes

If your coming in the beginning of the year, you might still get to see Dr. Link. When I went in May and asked him if he was retiring he said he has a lot to finish up on and might still be around in the new year. I’m glad I went to say that I had a xray done by Dr. Link but I didn’t get the excellent rating I was hoping for. 🙁 If you do make it here I would love to meet up and if you need a place to spend the the night you are welcome!

      3. Misty Shores Chesapeakes

Oh that’s good to know, not sure if we will be able to make it at the beginning of the year. Looks more like it will be late spring/summer. That is so sweet of you to offer, it’s actually going to be me and Michelle Keehn from Dusty Rose Chessies making the trip. We both have dogs we would like to have done. Not that I do not trust my vet, but she doesn’t do them as often as the docs there and she anesthetizes, no choice, I would like to see if I can get Maia done without. I have heard pros and cons to it, what do you think, anesthesia or not? I’ve been working with her about lying on her back so she becomes accustom to that position.

      4. Sand Spring Chesapeakes

If you have been laying her on her back and getting her used to that I don’t think you will have a problem without anesthesia. Dr. Link was so freaken fast it was done in a couple of seconds. At our clinic we try without anesthetic and if not working then we give them a light sedation. I don’t have a problem with sedation and don’t feel that it causes a problem with the xrays or dog. But since it is OFA and you usually only get one chance I would go to a clinic that has done many in the past so if that means a trip to WI then so be it. You want to get a great rating.
