Digging The Escape Route

This past weekend we felt the fugitives move for the first time. Guilty lays by John on the couch so he always has a hand on her stomach. He perked up Saturday night and said “I felt one move”, I thought he was pulling my leg as I thought it was too early to feel them. But I was wrong and he indeed did feel a puppy move. I was able to get a video of them moving.

This weekend was filled with getting things set for the fugitives arrival.

When the whelping date nears dogs look for a place to whelp their litters, they check out different places until they find the right one. Guilty started looking for a place to have her puppies this weekend. She was in the room that I have set up for the whelp but she was looking for a different spot than what I had set up for her. I have her whelping box set up in the spare room. Guilty and I have been sleeping in the spare room trying to get her used to that room.

Guilty is getting fed three times a day so she can have smaller meals, her belly is so big she rather eat several times a day instead of filling up her already full belly. She is still getting a dewormer once a day, she will continue to get this dewormer for 14 days after whelp. Some intestinal parasites are passed from mom to puppies through the mothers milk. Some dogs have intestinal parasites hibernating deep in the muscles waiting for a stressful situation so they can be awaken and passed on. Guilty’s stool sample exams have been negative for parasites but we still deworm, we don’t have worm and don’t want them.

Taking in her calories.

This weekend I made a couple of puppy beds. I found the covers at goodwill, they were new in the box but needed a frame for them to work so I went to Menards and bought some pvc pipes, measured, cut and put them together. Gambler thought he needed to model the beds. The puppies are going to have fun crawling around on these beds.

Get your rest now Guilty, after Thursday your going to be busy.

T-2 nights and the fugitives will be making their jail break. I have opted for an elective c-section so that will take place Thursday January 31 at 11:30 am.

That is so cool watching the puppies move! I can’t believe it’s already time. Don’t worry, I had two c-sections and I’m fine. Haha!
