This winter Gambler has been one lucky pooch, he has gotten asked to go on some guided pheasant hunts along with either John or I. My friends own Lone Oak Shooting Preserve in Montello, WI. Some Clients want to come hunt pheasants but don’t have a dog and want to hunt pheasants with a dog so they call us up and set up a time for us to use the Sand Spring gang as their pheasant dogs with us guiding them.
Here are some photos of Gamblers hunts. I so enjoy doing this as it gets my dogs out of the house and in a hunting situation where they get birds. They don’t care who they hunt for as long as I am there to guide them and they get birds. This first set of photos are my favorite so far that I’ve taken while guiding.
We have had several great hunts. The season is winding down, we don’t have any guided hunts lined up but we did make sure we scheduled one last hunt in February for Gambler and Glory with JoAnn behind the gun.
That’s great they get to practice what they were bred to do.
That Gambler is a hard working dog! It sounds like you both have a lot of fun doing this, so glad you get the chance.
It’s always fun when opportunities like that come up! I’m sure the dogs have loved having extra opportunities to get out there–the pictures are lovely!
How nice that you and your pups can help others participate in a hunt.
he is a champion and a super hunting partner…YAY for the super g-man!
That is so cool for the dogs and the hunters!!
