This past weekend Central Wisconsin Kennel Club hosted a two day conformation and rally obedience event. There were two rally events each day. Gambler has one pass out of three needed for his RO3 title. We have been doing really well in rally so I just entered both events on Saturday. Gambler and I rode with Tom and Josey as they were entered in rally as well.
Trial one went well Gambler and Josey both qualified. Gambler received second place with a score of 96/100. This was his second pass out of three for his RO3 title, one more to go!
It was time for trial two. When Gambler is around Josey he tries to mount her. They used to be buddies until we bred them then he turned into a dirty dog and won’t leave her alone. They hung out waiting for the trial to start.
It was now time for Gambler and I. All was going well until I decided we needed to move a bit faster through the course. Just as I did that Gambler got excited and mounted my leg. We were on the sixth sign and I had to do a 360 turn with a cling on my leg. You can’t touch the dog during the competition so I didn’t touch him and tried to do the course while telling him to get off me. He finally got off my leg and we continued on to the next sign where he mounted my leg again. I tried to do the sign but he didn’t do it correctly, we kept on going and on sign 8 he mounted my leg again and enough was enough I grabbed his collar and exited the ring.
Needless to say we failed that trial so that meant no title for this day. Everyone was cracking up from the peep show. The judge told me she was watching thinking “how the heck am I going to score this trial”. Because we failed I decided to go back on Sunday, enter one trial and see if we couldn’t get that title taken care of.
Sunday was a whole different day. Gambler and I went by ourselves so no Josey to get him thinking of other things. He was a good boy and completed the course perfect! We passed with a qualifying pass and a score of 100/100. We received our UKC RO3 title under judge Polly Dake-Jones.
Gambler is such a clown and always keeps me guessing which personality he will be having each day. I actually don’t mind it as he has fun doing what we do together so that leads me to have fun. He keeps others laughing as well.
Thanks to Central Wisconsin Kennel Club for hosting the trial and Polly Dake-Jones for judging this event.
