On Friday September 23 we left Ronan, Montana heading east across the state to then head north to our final destination in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Here are the photos from our morning drive through the mountains. We had uneventful trip out to Montana but that all changed this day when we were leaving. For this trip across country we used my brother’s truck as we didn’t think our truck would make the trip. We were driving along and all of a sudden bam a truck throws a rock at our windshield putting a crack in it! Urgh, really a stone chip? Well can’t do anything about it now so keep on driving. We drove about 12 hours across the state about a hour from customs and John spots a whitetail deer running in the field heading right towards us. He starts to speed up so he could miss it, sure don’t need to be hitting a deer with my brothers truck! He speeds up but it wasn’t fast enough and bam, bam, bam!
The deer hit our trailer we were hauling. Just as the deer hits it I have a revolution and realize I don’t think I put insurance on it when we bought it last year…..nothing we can do about it now so keep on driving James. We kept on driving, made it across the border with no issues and off we were to our hunting camp. We left Friday am around 7:00 and got to the farm house at 10:30 pm. One long day for sure. John did all the driving and I thank him for that. Our hunting adventures to come!
Oh yea, when I got home, I called the insurance company and guess what? I never insured the trailer! I asked what my truck coverage would cover pulling a trailer and they said only liability! Lessened learned!
Now go check and make sure all your items have insurance, don’t be a JoAnn!
At least the damage doesn’t look too bad. You can still use it.
glad John could avoid the worst… it’s super annoying that your trailer got some battle scars, but better the trailer than you…. and yes, I am a JoAnn, I thought as soon as the trailer is connected with a car they are a unit, because to trailer can’t drive alone… the insurance said: no way! if I had the time I would fight for that…think that’s a sneaky trick from insurances to make mo’ moneeh… :o(
I hate getting rock chips on my windshield. It is amazing how many people I know that have been hit by deer. My brother has some kind of whistle on his cars to warn deer. They are very common where he lives.
Oh no! I guess when you’re traveling that far, something like that is bound to happen. But it certainly could have been worse, so glad it wasn’t!
The mountains are pretty but ugg on the insurance. I think we over insure our stuff. Everything is covered.
At least you’re all safe even if uninsured. Glad the damage wasn’t so terrible.
