A couple weeks ago John decided to do a little duck hunting close to home. There is a river that is near our house that he can take his canoe down to hunt ducks. Guilty was the chosen one for this hunt. John loaded up the canoe in the truck and off we went. I drove the truck around the block to drop them off on one road where John put the canoe into the river and their hunt began. In about a hour I was to meet them on the other road where the river went though.
I got the call to go pick up John and Guilty. I was excited to hear how their hunt went. Sadly there were no birds so Guilty didn’t get to retrieve anything. All she got was experience in the canoe which was a good experience. She had no problems staying in the canoe and never tried to jump out, she just sat there and hung out while John paddled. It was a great first time in the canoe, hopefully next time there will be birds to be retrieved.
That is a great experience to get in while she is young. Some dogs are afraid of the movement and trying to balance if they didn’t learn it when they were little.
Is that a flat bottomed canoe? I’ve never seen one of those. It must be much more stable.
it is a flat bottom and we have indoor outdoor carpet on the bottom so the dogs don’t slide around.
That would be such fun! I’d love to take the boys in a boat but I’m sure they would want to jump out. LOL!
Wow, she did great! I’ve never trusted any of my dogs enough to try bringing them out in a canoe or kayak, though I know it would be so much fun! I may just try it with Luke one of these days. Guilty looks like she had such a good time and hopefully there will be some birds next time around.
I’m ok in a canoe with the dogs, but I don’t know if I would try a kayak, I can’t swim, lol. I think you should try it. Being with the dog out on the water is awesome.
Bravo Guilty!!!! next time you will get some berds I’m sure… now you are a pro on all 7 seas! imagine to be in a canoe with easy… no, better not… toooooo horrible… even the thought :o)
It looks like too nice a day for birds. 🙂
Way to go with the continued hunt experience, even if the hunting part doesn’t get used, the other prep is good mental exercise. 😉
Even though their were no birds, Guilty learned how to ride in the canoe. She looks like she just enjoyed the ride on the water with Dad 🙂
Exactly anytime with dad is a good time.
