The time of year that the Sand Spring gang waits for all year is finally upon us. It’s hunting season. It started September 1st with early goose and morning dove hunting. The gang got out a couple of times morning dove hunting but in the first part of September it was really hot we didn’t hunt very long or much. This past weekend we finally got out and hunted some early geese. It again has been so hot we haven’t had a chance to go until now. The dogs have been kept in shape with their summer training. Glory as you know had the summer off so she could tend to her puppies but she still got exercise and is back at getting fitter now since in a week and a half we will be heading to Saskatchewan to do a week long snow goose hunt.
Here is a short video of Gambler retrieving a goose. As you can see and hear he has a one track mind and wants to take “his” bird into the corn row to hide it and keep it away from Glory.
Early goose is now over but that won’t stop us from goose hunting. Early goose you are allowed 5 geese a day, regular goose hunting you are allowed 2 a day. They won’t have as many retrieves but they will still be hunting and keeping fit.
The fun and games continue every Friday with FitDog Friday, the weekly Blog Hop brought to you by To Dog With Love, SlimDoggy and Emma from Mygbgvlife to promote a healthy active lifestyle for pets (and their people, too!). Join in every Friday by linking up your FitDog story or visiting the blogs in the Hop.
Will all the dogs be going, even little Preacher? We remember you always have a wonderful time on this trip!
Good job Sand Spring gang!
Gambler, you are too funny. Good luck on your trip!
That is so funny that he tries to hide his goose. Five to ten pounds is BIG! Pierre would have a field day out hunting. My husband keeps saying that he should take him squirrel hunting. He does a great job of searching and treeing them. LOL! Bentley who should love to hunt, is scared of gunfire.
Ah, bless him! How funny!
So cool seeing dogs do what they are bred to do and having fun at it!
Have a great time on your trip. The dogs look great!
The week long snow goose hunt sounds like a bunch of fun & exercise! Very nice! I’d love to witness hunting dogs in hunting action 🙂
It’s mine – all mine! I could see my crew wanting to do that if they were hunting dogs too.
You must be so happy to be back out there! Hope your weather has cooled off to better hunting weather!
Hunting season means blessed autumn. Good bye Summer…good riddance to the extreme temps. Enjoy the cooler days.
Hi Y’all!
Lookin’ forward to tales from the great white north.
