It’s Not Your Normal Potato Chip

Potato chips you ask? This picture is a vaginal cytology from Glory. This was taken last week when I did a progesterone test on Glory to find out how far in her heat cycle she was. Besides doing a progesterone blood test you can can do a vaginal cytology to gauge when the female will be in standing heat. The cells you see above are epithelial cells taken from the vaginal wall of Glory. When a dog is in standing heat the epithelial cells will be cornified “curl like a potato chip), when they are not in standing heat they will be oblong and have “no curls” in them. On this day Glory was on the verge of having all cornified cells meaning she would be in standing heat soon.

Glory and I have made it to Michigan. 2browndawgs or should I say all three of them Thunder, Storm and Freighter are all very lovely and have given me a very warm welcome. It was love at first site between Glory and Thunder, all is going well and hopefully in 2 months we will have little poopy puppies.
