Once Slammer figured out he needed to get into the water to go retrieve the bumper he thought if he jumped at it he wouldn’t have to swim he could just land on it and bring it back, at least this is what I would be thinking if I was a puppy.

He was such a gun guy to watch, he would jump like a little billy goat, land in the water and sometimes he would go under, he sprang back up and swam like a fish to go get the bumper and bring it back. He even swam past a couple of decoys giving them the sideways glance to make sure they wouldn’t get him while he swam by. From day one at 8 weeks of age he swam really well and continues to do so. Once it get’s warmer it’s going to be hard to keep him out of the water.
