A few weeks ago I got to take the Sand Spring gang to Loan Oak Pheasant Preserve for a guided hunt. Sometimes hunters would like to go pheasant hunting but don’t have a dog to help them with the hunt or retrieve their birds. That’s when the Sand Spring gang gets called into action and they are more than willing to help out these hunters as so am I.
I was guiding by myself so I didn’t get to many photos of the hunt. I had to keep an eye on the dog and let the hunters know when they were on a bird so it was hard at times to take pictures and make sure the dogs weren’t running a muck.
I was able to get all three dogs out this day for the hunt. They all did an excellent job and got birds to retrieve. The three hunters were happy with their performance. We have a couple more guided hunts lined up.
If you would like to go on a pheasant hunt give Loan Oak Pheasant Preserve in Montello, WI a call.
Craig and Jodie would love to set you up and if you need a dog or two the Sand Spring gang would love to help you out as well.

It looks chilly out there, but I’m sure the dogs had a great time! Going with a guide is probably a good idea, but Mom doesn’t hunt.
Do the men hunters treat you any different because you are a woman? Just curious. It sounds like a lot of fun!
Oh I bet the gang enjoyed this day ;o) the mama grinned and remembered the pheasant she made once … a prehistoric berd what was absolutely inedible BOL
What a cool thing for your dogs to get out there and help hunters who don’t have dogs of their own!
