This past weekend the Sand Spring gang went to Muddy Waters HRC hunt test. Riggs went into this hunt test with 2 started passes from back in June. He was signed up both days for a started test with the potential of receiving his title if all went well.

Saturday’s started test was judged by Sharon Potter and Wade Zafke, both land and water were straight forward tests with a nice big area of water where the young dogs weren’t temped to cheat around. Riggs completed both the land and water giving him pass number three to go towards the four he needs for his started title.

Sunday’s started test was judged by Dave Poffinberger and Wade Zafke, again these two judges set up a straight forward test. The water was held in a swamp like setting so it was really cool to watch the dogs run in that setting. Riggs again did very well and passed his fourth started test so he received his HRC Started Hunting Retriever title. He went 4/4 for the tests with 5 months of hunt test training.

We would like to thank the Muddy Waters HRC club for hosting such a nice event, thanks to all the workers and judges. We have a great time when coming up to this club event. We will now be concentrating on finishing up Riggs hand signals so we can move up to the next level in AKC and UKC hunt test events next spring. He will be out hunting this fall. A all around guy, hunt tests, hunting and anything in between that we throw at him.

Riggs is co-owned, trained, handled by Roger Glasgow and John & JoAnn Stance. It shows what kind of work ethic this guy has by having three different people train and handle him, he doesn’t skip a beat at all.
