Not a happy Saturday again. To much sadness this past week, another 2 young Chessies have left this world. Two that are very special to me. First Chessie that left us is one of Norman’s son’s. Gambler’s brother Bo crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday due to complications to Lymes disease.
Bo 5/13/11 – 12/19/16
Bo was born on 5/13/11, this hits way to close to home since he was Gamblers brother and I look at Gambler and know he is 5.5 years of age and that is way to young to lose a family member. Bo was Bob’s companion and therapy dog for him. Bob has some health problems and Bo was a special boy that took care of Bob and was always by him, keep Bo close in your heart and he will always be there when you need help. He will be missed dearly. My sympathies to the family.
Lewis 9/6/10 – 12/22/16
Second my best friend Amy and her family said goodbye to their first Chessie Lewis on Thursday. Lewis was only 6 years old. This was Amy’s first Chessie and they had a bond like no other, he opened her world to Chesapeakes and their owners which I am ever grateful for.
Lewis brought 4 online peeps together and they became great friends. The power of the paw is so strong. This world be a lonely place without our four legger’s and it will surely be lonely for Lew’s family. He was a remarkable dog that taught Amy how to care for a epileptic, they taught each other so much and Lew made Amy a stronger person because of it. Amy was a huge advocate for epilepsy and helped so many families out when they needed support for their epileptic dog and I’m sure she will continue to help others as it is in her heart now.
Amy and Lewis were advocates for Pet Therapy as well. Lewis had his Canine Good Citizen title and had his Therapy Dog Title where together Amy and Lew had made over 200 visits to schools and hospitals mainly focusing on the cancer ward. Lewis was apart of Pet Partners, R.E.A.D, National Capital Therapy Dogs and Caring Canines. He would lite up the faces of anyone he met. He was brought here to do special things and he accomplished them.
You can read about Lew and his therapy work in the AKC Gazette by clicking here.
Lew’s picture was used for a Washington Post article. He will be continued to be seen everywhere’s. You can see him here.
Lewis will no longer be walking by Amy’s side but Amy will be carrying him in her heart forever! Godspeed Lewis may you be running pain free now and playing with all the other doggies over the bridge.
It has been a sad week for our Brown Dog people…
When I read Amy’s post, oh my heart.
So sad.
A few days before ,I read my friend’s Susan Barrett Hyde’s post, who lost her girl Casco unexpectedly.
It hurts so when they leave you.
My signature for over 22 years now has been
“A dogs life is too short…
Their only fault,really…”
So true…
doG Bless
