Nothing But Norman #16

Happy Saturday Everyone!

One more day and Norman will be 13! When Norman was diagnosed with osteosarcoma I didn’t think he was going to make it to his 13th Birthday. He was doing really well until the month of October. He was having more bad days. If you would of asked me a couple weeks ago if Norman would be here to celebrate his Birthday I would of told you no. Many of you read my melt down Nothing But Norman posts and gave me encouraging and thoughtful words.

I am happy to report for the second week in a row that Norman is doing as well as expected and is still trucking along. He is still making it up stairs and doing well. He even went on a very small pheasant hunt last Sunday. Last Sunday Nellie was outside with me and we were doing bird chores. I went into the pheasant pen and normally lock the door behind me but I knew it was Nellie with me and she wouldn’t come in, boy was I wrong! While I was in the pen fixing the netting Nellie came in and was just sniffing around not harming the birds but the birds got scared and started walking to the open door and low and behold out the door they went. I think about 15 of them went out the door before I could get there to close it. As we were trying to corral them back into the pen one flew away. This was my opportunity to let Norman get a pheasant. It landed in the ditch so we knew where it was. John went and got his gun and I followed behind with the camera. Off they went on what might be their final hunt…..

Oh my you have a gun, I get to go hunting.

I know the way!

One happy boy!

This was one special day that will be locked in my memory vault for ever. He wouldn’t give up, he kept trucking until he found the bird and went and retrieved it.

We also did a photo shoot at my best friend Linda’s house. She has such a nice yard and nice fall decorations I wanted to get some pictures of the dogs there. Linda has been a part of Norman’s whole life. She has hunted with him, she has babysat him and she knows how much he means to me so she was happy to take some pictures.
