Happy Saturday Everyone,
My Nothing But Norman posts will have music video’s attached to them. I have a whole playlist that I said was Norman’s. They really weren’t Norman’s but they were songs that had words in them that reminded me of Norman. The five months he was giving cancer the paw I was really listening to the music that was being played and trying to come to terms with it all. I knew one day he would be gone so once again I was preparing for the time after Norman. He was the music in my life while he was alive and he is the music in other peoples songs that will live on forever. I will always have their music to comfort me.
So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn’t know I was lost
When this song was released I loved it, I still love it. All I could think about was the day we would say goodbye to Norman. I would think of this song and would say to myself “wake me up when it’s all over”. That way I could avoid all the pain. Then the more and more I thought of it I needed to be a part of everything. I was there when I picked him up for the very first time and brought him home, was with him through his journey in life I was going to be there in the end. To see everything through. I thought I would be lost without Norman, I can tell you that I am very sad Norman is gone but I’m not lost. He lives on in his children and grandchildren and they are showing me the way. They are my light to happiness again. That bright star up high in the sky is shining down on these three loving souls and they are showing me it’s alright.
To help comfort me I have done a few things. I bought this Devinci bracelet and put a topaz heart (Norman’s Birthstone), a key to his heart, a dog bone and paw prints. This all reminds me of Norman. I will add more beads representing the other dogs at sometime, but for now it is Nothing But Norman.
My friend gave me this next necklace. It is a fire elements necklace. She was really fond of Norman so I took it to Things Remembered and had it engraved with Norman and paw prints on the front and then his Birth date and Death date on the back. He is the fire burning in my heart that will be there forever!
I got this origami owl necklace a while ago. It is a locket, you can put different charms inside. I have a cross, a paw print and a gem stone for each of the furkids Birthdays. I added the little white stone on the bottom left which is a piece of Norman. He is again near and dear to my heart.
Thank you Patti Maye, for this very beautiful poem you left on my Facebook page.
We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know,
for who but I can see you lie
each night in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
before we go to bed
and feel the living warmth of you
and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
and see ahead of me,
your large form racing with the wind
so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
in every pond I pass
and when I call, no one but I
can see the bending grass.
Have a great weekend.

I’m glad you aren’t lost Jo. You are so wise and strong of heart. Keep taking comfort in the other pups — they will show you the way. Glory and Gambler have already distracted you with their new therapy jobs. And Norman was part of training them and YOU to be able to do that.
“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”
You are so sweet Amy. Thank you for your special words.
What a sweet poem to have left for you. And I think having the necklace engraved was a wonderful idea. It’s nice that you have found all these ways to honor and remember him.
Thank you so much.
Beauwooowoooootiful tributes!
Thank you.
just gorgeous. The necklace is my absolute favorite. What I did that was a huge comfort when my soul kitty passed at age 18 was I took many of his photos and bought about 3 LARGE collage frames and put my fave photos in and hung them up around our condo. I STILL have them up and they still bring me comfort. ((((hugs)))))
What a great Idea, I have single pictures but not a collage. They stay with you forever.
What a beautiful poem. I love the jewelry and all of the things you are doing to honor Norman’s memory. It is so special that you have his children and grandchildren to see him live on in.
Thank you.
Hi Y’all!
I always love your “nothing but Norman” posts. The poem today would have had me crying tears, if dogs could cry like humans. What a wonderful way to remember Norman with the beautiful jewelry.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Thank you so much. I worry about them as they may be too sappy.
I’m so glad to see you taking control of your grief and honoring Norman’s memory with joy rather than sorrow. That’s how he would have wanted it. I’m sure he didn’t like it when you were unhappy. Stay strong.
Thank you, I am strong just like him.
I love the necklace and bracelet. What a great way to remember Norman and to have him close to you.
Thank you.
The poem is beautiful and I love all the Jewelry with remembrances of Norman. But having him with you through his children’s is very special. I know they give you joy every day.
They give me so much joy.
Beautiful ways to remember Norman.
Thank you.
You’re doing so many wonderful things to keep his memory alive. It’s so inspiring. Sending you hugs.
Thank you, it does make me feel better when I look at the stuff.
