Last fall we started our pet therapy again at Beaver Dam Middle School and at Fall River Elementary School. We have been visiting once a week. Mostly it has been with Gambler but Glory and Guilty have been visiting too. The school year is coming to a end in a few weeks so we have only one visit left for this spring.
With Memorial Day coming up I took my Red, White and Blue gear along with to the visit. The first thing the three boys do when I come for a visit at Beaver Dam is look in my bag and see what I brought for them to dress up Gambler with. We have a talk about the up coming holiday and what it means and then they dress up Gambler, they brush him for some Gambler bucks where they can spend their buck on little knick knacks to keep their mind off the troubles of the day. One visit they were taking some intense tests so I came right in the middle of it, gave them and the teachers a much needed break to relax their brains and bodies and get them ready for the next set of testing. Pet therapy is much needed and appreciated.
I’m thankful that I have this opportunity to do pet therapy with my dogs it doesn’t only help others out it helps me out too.
That is so cool. We took our grandbaby to the local children’s museum and they had therapy dogs there for reading hour. She was not a fan of them but we will continue to try to introduce her to them. She has a Lab so I’m not sure what the problem was.
that is such a super idea … school can be funny and fabulous if we have such teacher assistants like the ss-gang… can you come to the mama too? she would need some help in math lessons…
Everyone can use a little dog therapy. ?
We bet those kids will be looking forward to school in the fall so they can see the Sand Spring gang again!
