Slammer is out of Sand Spring Chesapeakes “Guilty” and our foundation stud “Norman” (UNJ U-CH Sand Spring Guilt By Association SH CGCA CGCU THDN TT SPOT-ON x HRCH Sand Spring Norm Of Caroway MH). Slammer was born on 1/31/19. He is a medium brown Chesapeake measuring 23.5 in at the withers, weighing 75 pounds, he is of correct conformation and sound with an outstanding temperament with a title in the American Temperament Test to boot.

Slammer is biddable with heavy drive, stylish water entry, great focus and marking ability and very versatile – this dog hunts, shows, dock dives, lure courses, competes in Rally Obedience and goes each week to the memory care, traumatic brain injury facility and to a nursing home doing his therapy dog work all with ease! He has his AKC Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine, Canine Good Citizen Urban, Farm Dog Certified title, and UKC SPOT-ON titles, he has made 50 therapy pet visits to receive his AKC Therapy Dog title.

Slammer has his International and AKC Show Championships, he has his UKC Grand Championship. He was the number one Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the nation for the UKC Top Ten in 2020, he was number seven in 2021. He was invited to the UKC Premier for the Top Ten in 2021, he also qualified for the UKC Total Dog Qualifier and was invited to the qualifier event held in LA, he has a total of three Total Dog wins. He follows in his mother’s paw prints as she was the number one CBR in 2017 and is one of five Sand Spring dogs to be the number one CBR in the UKC Top Ten.

Slammer competes in UKC and AKC hunt tests, he received his AKC Junior Hunter title at 7 months of age and his Senior Hunter title at a year and half. He received his AKC Master Hunter title at age 5 the summer of 2024. He needs 2 more HRC finished passes to receive his HRCH title which we will work on in the spring of 2025.

When Slammer isn’t competing in hunt tests, he is doing other various dog events like Dock Diving where he has his AKC Dock Master title his UKC United Master Jumper and United Senior Jumper Champion titles. His personal best jumping is 22 ft. He has his UKC Rally Obedience 3 title and his AKC Rally Excellent titles. He has received his Champion Shed Dog title. The Summer of 2024 he competed in the new AKC Fetch test receiving the highest title of Fetch Retriever title and he competed in the AKC Fit Dog competitions receiving Gold status. He closed out 2024 earning 14 titles.

Besides training and competing in AKC & UKC performance events Slammer is an avid upland and waterfowl hunter in WI, he also hunts woodcock, grouse, and morning doves. He also travels to Saskatchewan hunting snow geese, ducks, and cranes as well as a spring goose hunt in Iowa when time allows. During the fall and winter months he guides pheasant hunts on a game farm where the hunters enjoy hunting with him because he points the pheasants. He points, flushes, and retrieves the birds for different hunters.

In Slammer’s down time he is living the life of luxury in our house with our other 5 Chessies.
