The beginning of August John and Preacher went 2 for 2 on their UKC HRC Started hunt tests. She passed each day with flying colors. In a Started test the dog needs to make 2 land retrieves and deliver the ducks back to the handler. The delivery doesn’t need to be to hand but within 1-2 foot steps. The dog doesn’t need to be steady so the handler may hold onto the dogs collar while the marks are going off. After the land retrieves you move onto water, even if you know you failed on land you can still run the water set up. We didn’t have to worry about that as Preacher passed on land both days so she went onto water and she passed both days on water giving her 2 out of her 4 passes needed for her Started title.
Preacher had another two tests this pass weekend where she passed each day giving her her UKC HRC Started title. John and I both have trained Preacher while John handled her in all the tests. It was a team effort!
Without further ado let me introduce you to:
SHR U-CH Sand Spring Pale Rider SPOT Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā “Preacher”
Preacher was bred by John and JoAnn Stancer
Dam: HR U-CH Sand Spring No Gut’s No Glory SH THDN CGCA TT
Sire: HR CH SRR’s North Point Thunder Bay SH CGC WDQ owned by 2browndawgs.
Preacher will now concentrate on hunting and will be going to Saskatchewan the end of September to do some snow goose hunting. Preacher will also be joining her new family at that time. She will be making her new life with our friends in Minnesota who own Pearl who is out of Nellie’s first litter. Pearl will be turning 9 so since we can’t use Preacher for breeding Mike asked if he could have Preacher to have as a companion and to hunt with. We are sad that Preacher will not be living with the Sand Spring gang but know she will have so much more fun and one on one time living with only one Chesapeake vs 4 and she will be living across from a lake where she can swim every day. We will get to see her on visits and will get to hunt with her so this is a win win situation in my book.
Good job Preacher. I will miss seeing pictures of you, but it sounds like you are going to have a great new family!
She is a fabulous hunter… and she can even walk on the water :o) I bet she will love saskatchewan and she counts the days till fall efurry year :O)
Good for Preacher, but with her hunting family around her, of course, she passed. How sad she is moving away. We are happy to welcome her to Vikings territory, though. Minnesota is a great place to be.
Great job by the whole team! We’re sad to hear Preacher is leaving you, but it sounds like she is going to a wonderful place where she’ll have a good life and lots of attention. We’ll miss you too, Preacher!
Way to be awesome Preacher! I’m glad that we can still keep tabs on her in her new home. XXOO ā¤ļø
She is such a beautiful dog. Have enjoyed watching her grow up. Will miss seeing her in your post!
I love seeing her leaping in the water to hurry to the mark. Congratulations Preacher for passing all your land and water retrieve. Really sorry to see you leaving, but hope you love your new home:)
Well done that girl! Looks like it was a beautiful day too.
Woo-hoo. Well done, Preacher girl! Kudos to the whole Sand Spring gang.
