Putting The Tag Where It Belongs

The beginning of December when I put out my Christmas decorations you may remember I put Preachers tag on Norman’s tree in remembrance of her being a part of our family even know she went to live with my friends. On Christmas Eve that tag was removed from Norman’s tree and put where it belongs.

We brought Preacher home Christmas Eve. You ask why she came back home and to sum it up in a few words “female dogs are called bitches for a reason”. A female dog is called a bitch and with good reason they can be bitchy. There are female dogs that get along just fine and there are female dogs that have personality conflicts and don’t get along no matter what you do to try and have harmony. We here at Sand Spring have been very fortunate to have females that get along intact females to boot. I think Preacher fit in so well here because she was born here and lived here for a year and knew her place and pecking order. When she went to live with Mike and Lisa they had Pearl who was 9 and the only dog for the most of her life until the little dachshund came and moved in with her, then came Preacher. They tolerated each other Preacher who was young wanted to play, Pearl who was older wanted to be left alone and have her space. It was Pearls home but Preacher wanted to be the dominate one in the house and Pearl was having none of it. Needless to say a couple bitch fights happened. One happened when they came to visit in November at our house so I got to see it first hand. The second happened last week. Both didn’t end well with one or both dogs getting hurt and of course John and Mike getting bit trying to break them up. A decision was made that the girls had to be separated to protect each other and the peeps so Preacher came back home where we knew she would fit it.

It was no ones fault, there is no blame to be made. Some girls just can’t live together and it’s safer to separate them and have peace. We all are very sad that it didn’t work out and thank Mike and Lisa for giving it a try and loving her while she lived with them. She will be staying at Sand Spring as she has been bounced around so much in the last 6 months I don’t want to set her up to fail again and have to go through all this again. It’s not fair to Preacher.

The first thing Preacher did when she got home was grab up her favorite green outside ball and take a run with it. She played and played with it along with Guilty, they ran and ran happy to have each other again to chase and play with. She fit back in the pack just fine and knows her place. She tried to get into Nellie’s business and Nellie gave her what for and she backed down and left her alone. She will be watched like a hawk and hopefully nothing will arise while she is here with us. She is a sweet girl that shouldn’t be condemned for having a personality conflict. Heck I have many of them and I’m still here!

Welcome home Preacher and Merry Christmas!

Yes, girls as well as boys can have issues with each other.
When I look back and think I had 7 brown dogs
    5 girls
    2 Boys
    All intact.
Sometimes the boys would have their moments but the girls , well they loved each other and never even a nose out of joint.
    Bless you Preacher

Sorry this didn’t work out for your friends, but glad Preacher is home again. Fingers crossed this was just a Pearl Preacher personality conflict and all will be well now.

Your family is growing by leaps and bounds even without a new litter of puppies. My guess is she didn’t want to stay in state with such an embarrassing football team! We totally understand the bitch thing and fighting. It is hard, but you have to do what is best for the dogs. Hopefully she will settle back in and get back the a fun life.

I’m glad that Preacher was able to come home where she feels comfy. We received the wonderful gift of a police K9 German Shepherd many years ago because he couldn’t get along with the other male in his handler’s home. It happens and is always best to separate the dogs. Welcome home Preacher ♥

We are sorry things didn’t work out for Preacher in her new home, but we’re happy she is back with you now, and can tell you are thrilled to have her back too. You’ve got quite the house full now! Fun!

Sorry it’s late and my typing gets worse with time. To Satin (Pyrenees) and Newfs all intact. Have never had females not get along, they all knew the order and their place. Aspen and Mica had a short time when Mica’s leg was hurting really badly and she made it clear to leave her alone but now that she’s fine with him and he knows she is in charge (after Mom) but Aspen is male.
I’m sure that Preacher back home will just fit back in and be fine.
