On Sunday August 18th, 2019 Slammer passed his first AKC Junior Hunter test. Slammer is a litter over 6 months old. In AKC you can’t enter a hunt test until your dog is 6 months old.
Slammer was the youngest dog to run at the hunt test. It was pretty cool as in the junior test the oldest dog at the hunt test was running in juniors as well. The oldest dog was 11 years old, he had already earned his AKC Master Hunter title when he was 3 years old. This guy had problems with his back end, his owner knew he wouldn’t be with them much longer and since they live in the city he isn’t allowed to retrieve ducks so she entered him into the hunt test at the junior level so he could retrieve his last ducks. It was such a neat/sad thing to witness. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one tearing up during the run. It was so nice that the judges let him run.
For the next two weekends we have Slammer entered into 4 more AKC Junior Hunt Tests in hopes to finish his title this fall.
Congratulations to Slammer! A pup can’t do much of anything until she is 6 months old. Olivia can’t wait to be old enough, but we wish she would stay young longer.
What a pawsome award! Well done to you and the Slam-man.
congrats!!!! and all the good luck for the next events… you are da champion YAY!
Way to go, Slammer! Oh, I’d have been ugly crying at the senior dog’s run. That is so sweet.
Great job, Slammer! It sounds like a special event, how wonderful that they let that senior dog run. ♥
