Take Your Dog To Work Day is the first Friday after Father’s Day each year. Started back in 1999 by Pet Sitters International, this year marks the 20th Anniversary of the annual event.
I’ve been taking my dogs to work with me since 1991 after I graduated from Madison Area Technical Collage from the Veterinary Technician program I got a job in a veterinary clinic so I was able to bring my dogs to work with me not just on Take Your Dog To Work Day. It’s always nice to be able to take your animals to work with you. Your day is more relaxed with you have a furry friend to enjoy the day with.
Here is Pet Sitters International History & FAQ:
The 20th annual event will take place on Friday, June 22, 2018. The information below answers some of the most commonly asked questions about the event. If you need additional information, please contact takeyourdog@petsit.com.
• TYDTWDay® was first celebrated in 1999. 2018 marks the 20th annual event.
• It was created by Pet Sitters International (PSI) to celebrate the great companions dogs make and promote their adoptions.
• The event encourages employers to experience the joys of pets in the workplace for one day to support their local pet communities.
• TYDTWDay is an annual event and is always celebrated on the Friday following Father’s Day.
• It also accommodates cat lovers (and other pets) and those who cannot participate on TYDTWDay. The entire week leading up to the event, June 18-22, is Take Your Pet To Work Week® and Monday, June 18, is Take Your Cat To Work Day™.
• Event creator PSI is the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters. For any day pets can’t be at work or if dogs need midday walks on TYDTWDay, pet owners can search PSI’s Pet Sitter Locator free-of-charge to find a local professional pet sitter or dog walker.
• PSI feels that through the events, non-pet owners are able to witness the special bond their co-workers have with their pets firsthand and be encouraged to adopt a new best friend of their own.
• An estimated 300 businesses participated in the inaugural celebration of TYDTWDay. Since that time, America’s love affair with pets and interest in TYDTWDay has grown to an all-time high.
• PSI cannot track the day’s participation rates because companies are not required to register in order to participate. However, media coverage and web traffic indicate growing support of and participation in the event across the U.S. and abroad.
• You can follow TYDTWDay on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Go out and have a great day and weekend.
I always take at least one of my dogs to work with me as when I do work is a lot less work:)
In Germany, Katie went to the office with Mom. Here once and a while when Mom had to go to the office one of us would go along, especially Bailie as a puppy. Thankfully Mom works from home, so we are always at her office.
A great day and celebration. Have a super “Take Your Dog to Work Day!”
