The Smile Tells It All

This past weekend we did a little training with Slammer. He has only been in the water a handful of times. He was a little unsure on Saturday when we tried to get him to swim but on Sunday he did really well jumping in and swimming to retrieve the bumper and then swim to bring it back to John.

Hi Dad, look what I found in the pond.
I have a bumper, na na na na.
See ya later alligator off to my hiding spot I go.

When we first start training puppies and until they understand what they are suppose to do they retrieve what they are suppose to but they may not always come back to you. They think they got a big prize and they don’t want to share or give it up. They want to take it off to make it there’s. John has another bumper in his hand to entice him with that one to get him to come back. Once they learn that we really aren’t going to take their prize away from them that if they give it up they will get it again things go more smoothly.

Big smile.
And he’s off again.
One more time.

As you can see John was really happy with his boy. He is having fun hanging out and training this little guy. It’s all about happy times right now and letting him be a puppy, soon enough he will be at camp kick ass so for now it’s all about fun.
