Today we are joining 2 Brown Dawgs for their This ‘N That Thursday’s blog hop!
This is what she has to say about the hop,
A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…
“This ‘N That Thursday is for anything you want! Maybe you want to post about unrelated topics, or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post, or you have awards to share, or you have one long post…anything goes! So grab the button and join the hop!”
First I want to share Gamblers OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) hip and elbow results. May 15th, 2013 I took Gambler to the vet to have his OFA xrays taken. You can read about that here.
And the results are………..
Hips: Good
Elbows: Normal
Other genetic tests that I have done on Gambler.
DM: Clear
EIC: Clear by parentage
PRA: Clear by parentage
Now I need to sit down and get the Gman’s stud page up and running on my website.
Sunday Sand Spring went to a UKC Hunting Retriever Club hunt test hosted by Horicon Marsh HRC. I was running Gambler in Seasoned and John was running Glory in Started. This would be Gambler and mine first time running this type of test. So we were learning and competing together. I would say it was the blind leading the blind but Gambler was such a good boy and did so well I was the only blind one that messed up on his blind but he pulled it off. I get so nervous doing blinds in front of people let alone judges. I needed to handle Gambler so I stuck my arm up in the air in a right hand back and I yelled “over”…..opps handler error, Gambler took the handle as a right hand back. Good thing he wasn’t listening to me. Other than that I had good gun safety (you have to shoot a real gun with popper loads at the line) and Gambler had great obedience, marking and retrieving. Needless to say we got our first seasoned pass.
Glory had a excellent land series. She didn’t do so well on water. We’ve been having confidence issues with Glory on water. Some times she is great and she makes some awesome retrieves on water then the next time she jumps in goes a little ways and then she comes back like she doesn’t know what she is suppose to be doing. Back to the drawing board with Glory on water.
Glory being silly in the blind.
Hi mom I see you. Hi Glory I see you and you best do good!
I rocked on the land series, too bad my water wasn’t so good.
So that wraps it up for today, why don’t you hop on over to 2 Brown Dawgs see what their up to and grab the badge and join the hopping fun!

Glory will get there! Congrats to you and Gambler on your blue ribbon, it worked out better than John running him, huh?
LOL YES it worked out so much better than John running him. He sticks by his momma like glue.
Hi Y’all!
Sorry I was so slow…that I didn’t let y’all know about the Award! My Human was so busy yesterday that by last night she had forgotten she’d posted it to go up today! She has NO memory sometimes!
Love seeing y’alls hunt test photos! Congrats Gambler. Better luck with the water next time Glory. It feels good on a hot day! Can’t say I blame you for enjoying the water and forgetting you’re supposed to be workin’!
Y’all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Thank you for passing the award on to me! Have a wonderful day.
Well done to Gambler, making up for silly biped mistakes 🙂
Thanks so much for participating in TNT. Congrats on all of your successes. I bet soon you will be handling like you have always been doing it. Either that or Gambler will just have to take matters into his own paws…lol.
I wonder if Glory’s issue isn’t a growing up thing? Freighter was having a similar problem about a month ago (isn’t Glory a month or so younger than Freighter?). The funny thing is that Sunny was going through the very same thing at the same time. Both Sunny and Freighter have gotten over it. What we did was just do singles with Freighter on cut grass (his issue was more land because he loves the water, but it sounds the same as what Glory did at the test). Then we added cover and length. I really think he grew out of it and it wasn’t anything we necessarily did while training. We just tried to throw marks that would be successful for him.
Well we have him in Juniors next month, so I guess we will see…
Yes Glory and Freighter are similar in age. She will be 2 on Dec 4th. She loves the water so much but then she will have a blank stare on her face when a mark is thrown. She will jump in with all her might swim 10 yards then turn around and come back. I do hope she grows out of this. We will see how she does this weekend as she is entered in another started test. Good to hear Freighter grew out of it and is entered in a Junior test. Good Luck.

Go Gambler. Maybe next time for Glory.
So happy to see Gambler’s OFA results. That is very good news!
Congratulations on the blue ribbon! That is awesome! We think Glory will get there too! Just a matter of time 🙂
Congrats on the OFA clearance – good for you Gambler – now the fun begins 🙂
Great news on the test results!
Yes I am happy with Gamblers results too.
