This ‘N That Thursday

Today we are joining 2 Brown Dawgs for their This ‘N That Thursday’s blog hop!
This is what she has to say about the hop,

A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

“This ‘N That Thursday is for anything you want!  Maybe you want to post about unrelated topics, or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post, or you have awards to share, or you have one long post…anything goes!  So grab the button and join the hop!”
This past weekend Glory and I attended another AKC show. Saturday was practice for us as there was only one male entered and Glory so there was no points awarded. We have a lot to learn so since the entry fee was paid we went to gather experience. Here are her ribbons for the day.

Glory won her class and then took Best Of Opposite.

We went back on Sunday for another show with a different judge and this time there was one male again and another female. Glory took first in her class and then she got reserve winners against the other female. The other female took winners bitch for the point.
After the show was done Glory got to have a little fun. There was a barn hunt set up on the fair grounds so Glory and I went to check it out.
Don’t know what a barn hunt is? This is what the Barn Hunt Associationmagic1-300x181 says about it:
What is Barn Hunt?

For years, informal barn hunts have been done in conjunction with earthdog events and terrier fun days, using various rules, and as something to enjoy with no pressure on handler or dog. But these informal events have never been a sanctioned sport. The Barn Hunt Association, LLC has created a sanctioned sport honoring the traditional role of “ratcatchers” in ridding barns and properties of vermin. Barn Hunt opens this fun sport  up to any dog, of (almost) any size, type, breed or mix. In Barn Hunt, you can earn titles and placements at levels from Instinct through Master, and even Championships and beyond.

As Barn Hunt rapidly expands and grows, we want to hear from you. Join our facebook page and yahoogroup . Look above at the Events link to find fun tests, trials, training, and judge workshops; and at the club locator map to find clubs in your area.

Dogs must be registered with the BHA to enter sanctioned trials. The registration form can be linked to on the right or through the top menu.

I didn’t get any photo’s of Glory. First she got to sniff the rat in it’s cage. The rat people then took a rat and put it in a tube with holes in the tube so it could get air. It was a see through plastic pvc like tube. They placed the tube in the straw bales that were stacked up. Glory then went into the snow fenced off area and had to sniff out the rat. She went through the bales that were set up like a tunnel and then she crawled all over the bales until she found the rat. She was super excited the second time she did it she stuck her paw in the hole and pulled out the tube with the rat and rolled it around on the ground.

Something different to do and no rats were harmed during this event.

A little of that:

Since I won’t be blogging while I am hunting I wanted to make mention of Sept 28 being World Rabies Day.

I have heard about the Barn Hunt. I have already liked them on FB. My dogs would probably love it! Does the dog watch while the tube with the rat is hidden? That seem like it would be too easy. Hope I find one of those hunts near me.

A barn hunt! Do you think those dogs will come to my backyard and flush out all the mice so the chickens can eat them?

    Your ribbons are pretty, Glory!

Thanks so much for participating in TNT! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Congrats on your ribbons. The Barn Hunt sounds like all kinds of fun. It sounds like Glory is really good at it!

I never heard of a Barn Hunt before. Sounds like a ton of fun for the dogs! And I don’t care if they scare those rats a little… I know they have scared me a time or two! Have a great trip! Safe travels.
