Glory – oh glorious one where to begin. You left such a legacy behind. Thank you for being a big part of Sand Spring Chesapeakes, you will be deeply missed but your children live on and have been successful in any venue they take on. Born on 12/4/11, Nellie (HRCH Sand Spring Hurricane Nellie SH) our foundation bitch was bred to Lefty (CH Port’s Side Great Xpectations MH). This was Nellie’s last litter so we knew we would be keeping a female to keep the lines going. Out of a litter of 4 girls red collar was the one staying. Her name became Sand Spring No Gut’s No Glory. She was all Glory for 12.5 years when she succumbed to a splenic tumor on 4/19/24. When Glory was done raising puppies she became the Matriarch of Sand Spring. She raised her puppies with care and then she went on to raise her daughter’s puppies with the same care and love. She was the one we could trust with anyone, anything and any other dog. She just rolled with the punches, never missing a beat. She was an avid hunter having traveled to Saskatchewan many times as well as hunted upland and waterfowl in WI, therapy dog team where she went on to have 69 visits in various school settings and nursing homes, performance and conformation participant. She was titled in many events UKC and AKC, she was ranked twice in the UKC Top Ten and invited to their invitational at Premier as well as she was ranked 3rd in the UKC Current Top Producing Chesapeake’s, with offspring that have earned 4 titles. One of Glory’s puppies went overseas to England to spread the Sand Spring line. They say when you breed you should breed for the betterment of the breed, and I believe I did that with her children surpassing her in titles and becoming the first Chesapeake’s to accomplish some prestigious titles. She left this earth with her name being HRCH U-CH Sand Spring No Gut’s No Glory SH THD CGCA CGCU TT SPOT-ON. Some stats on Glory:
She was our first bred dog with OFA excellent hips, she went on to have a daughter and two grandpups with excellent hips. She was our second bred dog that became a UKC Show Champion with a Gundog Group 4 on 8/26/12. She was ranked 6th in the UKC Top Ten for 2012, she was invited to the UKC Top Ten finals competition at the UKC Premier where on 6/13/13 she was awarded the Award of Excellent. She was our first dog that we showed in AKC conformation for a limited time to earn 3 points.
An interesting fact about Glory is that you will find her puppy photo in the 21st Edition of the AKC The New Complete Dog Book, under the Chesapeake breed profile on page 62. She was also used as the model for the Pink Whistle Society fund raiser.
Glory’s accomplishments:
8/24/13 she earned her AKC Junior Hunter title.
12/4/13 she became my second Pet Therapy Team with Alliance of Therapy Dogs where she went on to have 69 visits in school settings and nursing homes.
6/28/14 she earned her UKC Hunting Retriever title.
7/19/14 she earned her AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title.
8/9/14 she passed her American Temperament test.
12/30/14 she earned her AKC Therapy Dog Novice title with 10 visits.
8/29/15 She earned her AKC Senior Hunter title.
10/27/15 she earned her AKC CGCA (Community Canine) title.
8/21/16 she earned her AKC CGCU (Canine Good Citizen Urban) title.
2017 she was ranked 7th in the UKC Top Ten finals.
4/28/18 she earned her UKC SPOT-ON title.
8/3/19 she earned her UKC HRCH title. She was the 4th Sand Spring dog to earn the HRCH.
2/12/20 she earned her AKC Therapy Dog title with 50 visits.
10/23 she was ranked 3rd in the UKC Current Top Producing Chesapeakes, with having offspring that have earned 4 titles. She has offspring with 3 SHR (started hunting retriever) titles (Josey, Preacher and Riggs) and 1 HRCH (hunting retriever champion) title (Rye).
Glory was bred 3 times having 25 offspring and 53 grandpups, 7 offspring passed before Glory and 1 grandpup.
She had one daughter – Pride that went overseas to England.
She had three offspring earn their UKC Show Champion title (Preacher, Riggs, Guilty), one receiving their UKC Emerald Grand Champion title (Josey).
She had one grandpup earn their UKC Grand Champion title (Carmelita).
She had six offspring earn their AKC CGCA and CGCU titles (Carli, Josey, Riggs, Guilty, Baylee, Hector).
She had two offspring earn their AKC TKA (Trick Dog Advanced) title (Josey, Hector).
She had two offspring earn their AKC JH (Junior Hunter) title (Riggs, Josey).
She had one offspring earn their AKC SH (Senior Hunter) title (Guilty).
She had one offspring earn their UKC Spot title (Preacher).
She had three offspring earn their UKC Spot-On title (Riggs, Guilty, Josey).
She had one offspring earn their AKC MH title (Rye).
She had two offspring ranked number one in the nation for the UKC Top Ten (Josey, Guilty).
She had two offspring that became therapy dogs as well as 6 grandpups that became therapy dogs. (Josey, Guilty, Carmelita, Dieter, Slammer, Gunney, Hector).
What we’re most proud of with Glory is that she produced offspring that were the first Chesapeake’s to accomplish different titles:
Josey (Glory and Thunder 2015 litter) became the first Chesapeake to earn the UKC Emerald Champion title. She went on to be the first Chesapeake to earn 4 UKC Champion titles which are: Shed Dog Champion, Rally Obedience Champion, Emerald Grand Champion and Senior Jumper Champion.

Josey is also received a UKC Total Dog award 13 times.
Roxie (Glory and Bear 2016 litter) became the first Chesapeake to earn the AKC Scent Work Detective title – it is the highest title in AKC scent work.
Roxie also the first Chesapeake to earn the National Association of Canine Scent Work Summit title and first Chesapeake to earn the Elite Championship title.
