As the new Wisconsin Regional Director for the American Chesapeake Club I was asked along with my friend Dana if we would set up a Chesapeake booth at the fair and represent the breed. We eagerly agreed. We didn’t have much time but we managed to pull off a couple of display boards and some literature talking about the breed.
The voice of Westminster Dog Show and author of Angel On A Leash David Frei. I was lucky enough to meet David at the dog fair. My friend Amy who does therapy work with her chessie’s sent me his book after I found out he would be coming to the fair. I didn’t know I would actually get to meet him but I was prepared with my book and a pen in case I did. I’m excited to have down time now so I can get started on his book.

The dogs just loved all the attention the people were giving them at the dog fair. They couldn’t get enough pets. They were very gentle with the children and people in wheelchairs.
They also got along great with all the other breeds of dogs. They shared their space with this very nice Wirehaired Griffon.
Here is the write up I did for the upcoming ACC Bulletin.
On November 1st, 2015 the 27th Annual Wisconsin Dog Fair was being presented by the Badger Kennel Club. Dana Sunderlage and I were asked to set up a booth and represent the Chesapeakes. We printed out the breed standards, information about the breed, information about the ACC as well as had a couple of display boards with pictures of the chessie’s doing various events from hunt tests to hunting, lure coursing to dock diving, therapy work to being companions. The boards showed how versatile our breed is. It also showed how Chesapeake’s can be different colors and sizes. Dana brought Clay while I brought Glory and her daughter Preacher. They did a great job greeting the public, getting many pets, hugs and treats. The high light of the event besides giving out information about our breed was that David Frei “The voice of Westminster” and author of Angel On A Leash, America’s Therapy Dogs was there meeting the breeds and giving Best In Show Demo’s. It was a great event to have attended as the new Regional Director.
This was a very well put together event by the Badger Kennel Club. Thank you for hosting this event and asking us to share our day with you. A great place to meet so many different breeds of dogs.
Stop back tomorrow on Wordless Wednesday to find out what my Canine Good Citizen Advance therapy dog did at the show to make my mouth drop.
This looked like so much fun and your displays were amazing! I’m definitely going to check out Angel on a Leash and look into if there is anything like this in upstate NY.
what a wonderful event! and your booth is just great! I hope Gambler wasn’t sad that he had to stay at home with Nellie and MK :o)
That looks like a great event. You certainly seemed very prepared and I know Glory and little Preacher were a huge draw! ♥
Looks like a ton of fun guys!!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Seems like a nice event. We saw somewhere what your dog did, but Mom says getting the title is one thing, sticking to the behavior all the time is another 🙂
That looks like such a great day, and like you, Dana and your dogs did a great job of representing your breed!
Looks like a great event. Way to represent the breed! How cool to meet David Frei! (Loved the pic you posted on Facebook of meeting him!)
Nice job with your area. Sounds like it was a fun day.
What a great event for dogs and people alike. Great for wee Preacher to get out and about and be part of the fun. How cool for you to meet David Frei.
Hi Y’all!
Why do people who don’t know Chessies well always say stuff like “they’re stubborn”, “difficult to train”? My Human likes Chessies ’cause she thinks we’re the easiest breed to train and the most reliable and a great house and family dog.
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
