Yesterday I wrote about Gambler and I competeting in our first and second AKC Rally Obedience Novice events. In Rally Obedience you need 3 qualifying passes for your title. We had two down and more to go which happened this past Saturday. Host club was the Western Waukesha County Dog Training Club in Ixonia, WI.
Judge for the day was Lynn Tamms. Gambler and I were entered into Rally Obedience Novice again going for our last qualifying pass to earn our title. We were signed up for another event on Sunday just I cse we failed but I had a family Christmas party to attend so I was really hoping to get er done Saturday.
The day was long we were the last team to go which wasn’t until 5pm. I walked the course and then it was my time to walk the course with Gambler. I never know what dog I am going to have at the end of the leash. At the first station I had to sit Gambler and then take off running when I did this he went into his prey drive and chased me and then he thought it was a free for all and he was wild. He kept grabbing his leash pulling on it, jumping up at me trying to grab my arm and so fourth. You can watch the video below to see what the clown did.
I was very nervous that we were going to be excused because of his antics. The judge was very leanant and didn’t excuse us but our score was a 70 which is the lowest score you can have to pass. WE TITLED!!! It wasn’t pretty but we got the job done!
What made this did even more special is titling with friends. I have a couple of friends that I train with and compete with one of them owns one of my Sand Spring pups. Tom along with Josey we’re competing in the Advance stake while my friend Lynne along with Diggs her German Short Haired Pointer was competing in Novice with me and Gambler. We all went three for three all getting our titles on the same day under the same judge. We all have a great time training and competiting together. We make it fun and make many memories. Training and competiting gets us out of the house and doing something with our dogs.
I would like to introduce Gambler with his new registered name!
