Ribbon Quilt And Crawfish Wall

Josey started out a Sand Spring pup then became a Crawfish dog as her owners named their kennel Crawfish Chesapeakes after the crawfish river that runs near their home. Tom and Josey have been competing in various venues in AKC and UKC since she was a wee little pup back in 2015. They have won numerous ribbons, when you win numerous ribbons you don’t quite know what to do with all of them as space can be limited. So you first take photos with the ribbons while they are whole and then you cut them apart and make various things with them as memorials of your accomplishments.

Joseys ribbons won at the end of this year.
Willow’s shadow box with her total dog win.
Tom’s Tuck N Roll framed art to always be remembered and laughed at.
Rosettes fill shadow boxes.
All to be hung on the Crawfish wall.

And the Quilt! The majority of the ribbons Tom and Josey have won so far went into this beautiful quilt wall hanging, lined with her Total Dog qualifier ribbons. Irene got an idea, bought a new sewing machine and over Christmas break from school this masterpiece was born. It also has Josey’s name and titles sewn into it along with “pink girl” as that was her collar color as a pup when she was with me at Sand Spring. What a beautiful job she has done with this!

The next masterpiece is already in progress. Irene made a crawfish emblem out of ribbons and is making a cage cover with the rest of Tom and Josey’s ribbons.

Crawfish emblem.
Work in progress.

Once the cage cover is done I will be sure to share it with you. Such talent Irene has and a great way to showcase all the pretty ribbons instead of putting them in a box.

All the ribbons, especially with multiple dogs do pose a display problem after a while. Never thought of cutting them up, not ready to do that, or sew them into anything quite yet, but those are some clever ideas!

We’ve seen some impressive crate covers at agility trials, but we just toss everything in the back of the car and let it tumble around between trials and class, so we will probably never use ours for a crate cover! We just got some fun ribbon hangers for Christmas–but they filled up quickly and Rye has quite a few ribbons that didn’t make the cut, so we might be enlisting my mom or aunt’s help to make a wall hanging one day. These look fantastic! I really like the framed rosettes!
