When I read Blog The Change mission statement:

Blog the Change

Not just for bloggers…
Be, Blog and Read the Change for Animals!

Come together to support people helping animals in need each 15th of January, April, July and October. Bloggers, write about a cause near and dear to your heart. Readers, share your comments and ideas in answer to these questions and more!

  • What have you done to Be the Change for Animals?
  • Who do you know who acts tirelessly on animals’ behalf?
  • What favorite cause has a special need right now?

I thought of a upcoming fundraiser’s that a Chessie Rescue group in WI is having so I thought I would highlight this fundraiser and their group.

Chesapeake Retriever Rescue Of Wisconsin

The Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI is a group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and finding them loving forever homes. We rescue adoptable purebred or mixed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers from shelters, strays, and from owners who can no longer care for their dogs. We are staunch promoters of spaying and neutering, and no dog is placed by our organization without this being done before placement. We also educate potential adopters about the breed to make sure a Chesapeake is the right dog for their family.

CRROW volunteers set up a booth at different events, they have fundraisers, they have picnics, they have a website and a facebook page to help spread the word about their organization and to raise money to keep CRROW going.

Right now CRROW has 4 Chesapeakes that need a forever home.

Cricket, 3 yr old spayed female Chessie mix June, adoptable female, special needs, senior Chessie Rocky, 2 yr old male chessie 3 yr old neutered male Chessie in Iowa

Visit CRROW’s website to see the information on these Chesapeakes.

January 22, 2014 CRROW is having a fundraiser. They are having a Guest Server Night at Wine Guyz – Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI

20% of the glass wine sales from 6-8 p.m. as well as all gratuities earned, go towards supporting the medical needs of Chessies looking for new homes or those that for age or health reasons are not adoptable. www.crrow.org

For our out-of-town friends, there are a few ways you can participate and celebrate with us:
1. Join us virtually by having a glass of wine or beverage of your choice.
2. Participate in our online raffle – more details to come….
3. Help us by donating items or ideas on items we can raffle at Wine Guyz that evening or during our special online raffle.
Donations can be sent to Pam Culver, 2324 Mississippi St, La Crosse, WI 54601.

This is what Pam says about the online auction for this event:

I have been doing some research today about the online auction. Facebook event pages will not allow me to set up an album, so I think I will set the online auction up on the Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin page as an album. The online auction will start a day or so after the Wine Guyz event because I do not think I can get both ready at the same time. As many of you know, I am not a very good multitasker! I will post updates to this page as well as the Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI page. If you have not LIKED the Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI page and want to participate in the auction, please go to the page and Like it so you don’t miss out!
So be sure to check out the online auction as they already have some nice stuff coming in. My friend and I are donating some paracord dog leashes and collars.
These are only 2 of the 5 collars. A WI Badger and Packer collar.

Great cause to bring attention too. So many people who are attached to a breed (including me) don’t realize there are brand specific rescues ALL OVER. You want a Chessie? You can get one from a rescue!

    Great cause!
It seems to me that pure-bred rescue associations can sometimes be lost in the mix of all the animals in need of homes, so it’s always good to give them exposure.

Great cause and sounds like they are good at organizing events. I agree with Kate – so important to remind folks that there are breed-specific rescues out there ready and able to help you find the dog of your dreams!
