Fleas And Ticks Don’t Have Them Don’t Want Them!

MK in the great outdoors trying out Only Natural Pet EasyDefense Herbal Squeeze-On Flea, Tick & Mosquito Cat Treatment, 3 treatments.

MK part indoor part outdoor kitty.

MK was a stray kitty that my dogs found as a wee little kitty in our marsh hence her name MK – Marsh Kitty five years ago. Since that time she has been a indoor/outdoor kitty. We’ve been lucky and she hasn’t come home with friends. I’m not always faithful about applying flea and tick treatments on her, because quite honestly I forget about her but now that Chewy.com carries Only Natural Pet line of products I can have the treatments auto shipped throughout the flea and tick season so I’m less likely to forget to put on. I’ve used different products throughout the years, this is the first all natural product  that I have used.

What do we have here?

Ticks attach themselves to blades of grass, weeds ect and when your pet brushes up against it they get hitchhikers.

How can I be protected against hitchkickers?

Description: Protect your precious kitty from fleas and ticks the safe and effective way with the Only Natural Pet EasyDefense Squeeze-On. Using the power of natural Geranium and Peppermint plant extracts, these unique tubes are completely free of pesticides and toxins, making them safe for your furry friends, and sparing you from applying dangerous chemicals. The soothing almond oil creates the soluble base that allows the active botanicals to create an invisible barrier around your cat—and the easy-application tube makes it easier than ever to protect your feline from pests. To humans and cats, these unique tubes carry a pleasant, soft smell, but the scent makes one thing clear to fleas and ticks—they aren’t welcome on the back of your furry friend. Keep them safe the natural way, with Only Natural Pets ~Chewy

EasyDefense comes in a 3 pack, one tube application lasts one month, it repels fleas, ticks & mosquitoes.

Key Benefits

  • A unique blend of botanicals, including geraniol (a natural extract of geraniums) and peppermint, this repellant works successfully against fleas, ticks and mosquitoes.
  • The natural alternative to common pesticides, this effective flea and tick repellant is long-lasting and safe around dogs and humans.
  • Gentle and soothing almond oil is used as a soluble base for the active botanicals to quickly and effectively create a repellant barrier around your cat.
  • Easy application tube lets you simple spread the hair between your cat’s shoulder blades until you see skin—apply the entire tube, and your kitty will be protected for an entire month!
  • Unlike similar products, these squeeze-ons feature a pleasant smell for you and your feline friend, but emit an unwelcoming scent for fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. ~Chewy

The tube was very easy to open, just twist off the top.

The tube was very easy to open,  just twist off the top. The solution didn’t even spill out when twisting off the top.

Apple to the skin between the shoulder blades.

The product is very easy to apply, you just spread the fur over the shoulder blades and squeeze the contents of the tube to the skin. The whole tube can be squeezed to this one spot or you can apply a small amount then reapply over several days. You will want to do it this way if you want to make sure your cat isn’t allergic to the oils. Once applied you don’t want to bath your cat for 24 hours, if you bath your cat you want to reapply if your cat goes into water often you want to reapply more often.

A very small oily spot that needs to dry.

The product left a very small oily spot on her fur. This was not noticeable once the product dried. I stuck my nose right over the spot where I applied the product it had a very faint smell. I’ve applied product that was made up of chemicals that left a strong odor after applying and a very big oily spot. MK sat without moving when I applied the product, when I’ve applied different flea and tick medications is the past she would move and try to get away when applying the medication. Sometimes her skin would twitch, with EasyDefense this didn’t happen.

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Geraniol 0.95%, Peppermint Oil 0.1%.

Inactive Ingredients: Almond Oil 98.95%.

I feel pretty, I smell pretty and no hitchhiker bugs on me.

So far MK hasn’t had any hitchhikers on her. I liked the application, smell and how easy it was to apply without causing distress to MK. If your looking for an all natural product to repel fleas, ticks and mosquitoes then this product is for your cat. If you already have a flea infestation then you will want to use Only Natural Pet All-In-One Flea Remedy first.

You can get EasyDefense from Chewy.com, the price is $26.89 for the three pack, if you sign up for autoship the price is $25.55.

I put EasyDefense on MK the beginning of June. I checked Sunday pm and no fleas or ticks on MK. Her skin and coat looked good. No problems with the product and it seems to be working quite nicely.

Only Natural Pet has many other products that are available at Chewy.com.

It’s The Shedding Season #Chewyinfluencer

Chewy White

Ding Dong #Chewyinfluencer calling. Spring is in the air and so is the pet hair. Chewy has a solution to the excessive fur problem.

FURminator

It’s shedding time, spring and fall pets blow their coat if their of the shedding breed. Long and short haired cats blow their coat. Cats are excessive groomers and don’t like to have unwanted “hair” or the feel of being dirty so they groom to keep themselves in tip top shape. When they groom they ingest two-thirds of their fur and they other third ends up on your furniture or clothing.

To combat the possibility of heath problems from ingesting the shedding fur why not get your cat used to brushing and remove the fur before it can get ingested.

MK shedding and having tuffs of fur coming out.

The FURminator is the tool for you. This tool is recommended by Veterinarians and Professional Groomers because it gives real results. Our groomer at Harmony Pet Clinic uses the FURminator on dogs and cats.

The FURminator reduces loose hair from shedding up to 90%, with only 10-20 minute brushing sessions 1-2 times a week.

Key Benefits:

  • Designed for use with coats shorter than 2 inches, reduces shedding up to 90%
  • Stainless steel deShedding edge reaches deep beneath your cat’s short topcoat to gently remove undercoat and loose hair, FURejector button cleans and removes loose hair from the tool with ease
  • Effectively reduces hairballs, keeping your cat healthier and happier, guaranteed to reduce shedding better than any brush, rake or comb
  • Recommended by veterinarians to help prevent dangerous hairballs from developing
  • Patented technologies, designed by a groomer for professional results ~Chewy

MK is a indoor-outdoor kitty so she is used to being outside. I took her outside to use the FURminator. I don’t brush her very often, mainly when she has tuffs from shedding I brush her. She didn’t mind the FURminator one bit. She stood while I held her front end and tolerated the brushing.

Wow, look at all that fur! That all come from me?

The neck area is where she was shedding the most so that is the area we concentrated on this weekend.

If I had fingers I could brush myself.

We took small breaks so she didn’t get angry with all the brushing. Her fur came off so easily and in such large quantities. It was a windy day so it just flew in the wind to be picked up later by the birds to line their nests.

The FURminator comes with a push button fur release system. You don’t need to pull the fur out, you push the button and the fur is released.

The FURminator comes with a blade guard and in two sizes, small and large depending on your cats size.

We give this brush 4 paws up. It’s well worth the cost, it keeps the fur and potential health problems at bay.

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone. Today Gambler and MK wanted to join in on the Mexican festivities.

I wonder who will look good in this Mexican hat or who would be dumb enough to wear it?

Christmas Prezzie Thank You’s

We are truly blessed to have such thoughtful friends her in the states and across the pond. Thank you all for thinking of us during this holiday season. xoxoxo

Thank you Mollie and Alfie.

Thank you Mollie and Alfie.

Mollie and Alfies prezzie was the first one I got. It came all the way from the UK. Their mom is crafty and has her own etsy shop so hop on over there and get your very own cartooned pets. I just love all mine!

Thank you Easy.

Thank you Easy.

My second prezzie was from our pal Easy, he is across the pond to and lives with his staff in France. They got us some really cool stuff in French and the doggies loved the treats. MK hasn’t tried her’s yet. Gambler opened the package in 2 seconds.

Oh no the treat jar is empty.

Thank you Nestle

Thunder, Storm & Freighter over at 2browndawgs must of had a inkling that Gambler, Glory, Nellie and Preachers treat jar was empty because low and behold a prezzie was knocking at our door. The treats were from Three Dog Bakery, must of been Thunder who picked them out on his recent shopping day there. The treats were a big hit with the gang! Nestle even thought of MK and got her some treats and a toy. Thanks pal they loved all their prezzies.

Full treat jar.

Thanks Amy.

Thanks Amy.

Even know Gambler has been very very naughty he still managed to get the goods from his pals Lewis and Poppy. Thank you for the really cool toys, calendar and scarf from CBBR&R. Poppy made the calendar so it makes it even more special. I then got a really cool sailboat flag bag that is Preachers new show bag now.

Thanks House Woof.

I got extra treats for the dogs and I got treats for myself. Here’s where the DAA (dumb Ass Attack) came into play. I set up my photo shoot Gambler was going nuts over the cookies in the bowl. He kept licking them and stealing them so I gave each dog one, posted up the photos on FB when HWDB messaged me and told me those cookies were for me. WHOOPS no wonder Gambler wanted them I started eating them and I couldn’t stop they were delish. Thanks friends for a little surprise.

I hope you all have a very happy and safe holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

Monday Mischief with a Scoop That Poop Day

This was a post I wrote many months ago and I found sitting in my drafts folder. Since I am away in Canada hunting I thought I would just post it up since all my posts are pre empted.

It is a kitty turd patrol kind of day. While the gang was out in the yard playing MK comes running through out of no where’s. Since she was running Gambler thought he should follow her and then all of a sudden she popped a squat.

I have to use the lew now!

Whatcha doing MK?

Is everything coming out alright?

MK I hope your going to scoop your poop.

How about I just cover it up?

Always remember to scoop your doggy poop as well as your kitty poop if they go outside. Intestinal parasites are a human health risk and more so if you have children around as their hygiene isn’t as good as adults. Besides being a human health risk, intestinal parasites can be passed back and forth between animals. It’s a good idea to have your pooch on year round Heartworm medication as each month besides preventing Heartworm disease it will deworm your pooch monthly (depending on which type of medication you use) against roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. Even know you use a monthly Heartworm medication you should still scoop that poop!PoopScoop_thumb

Technical Blind And A Birthday

When we were at the American Chesapeake Club Minnesota Chessie Day training last weekend the advance dogs could run the technical blind they had set up. A blind is where the dog doesn’t see where the bumper or duck is placed and the handler has to handle the dog to the blind using a whistle and hand signals. The dog needs to stay on as straight as line as possible and it needs to take the correct casts when given a hand signal.

Gambler was the only one to run this blind and you can tell from all the photos he had a hard time with it. After finding out this week that Glory came into heat I now know why his mind wasn’t on his blind. John stuck with it and got it done but it sure wasn’t pretty, and that’s why it’s called training.

John and Gambler walking to the holding blind.

Waiting in the holding blind.

Follow the black line from Gambler to the tree across the way. This is the path he should take.

Gamblers initial line was off, he went to the right instead of going straight.

John let him get out of the water and then signaled him to go left and get in that second pond.

Stopped him to give him a cast.

Left hand cast to get into the water.

Taking the cast and getting into the water.

On the right track.

Got off track and was too far to the left, had to cast to the right to get back in water.

Get in the water.

Was drifting off to the right so John stopped him and gave him a left hand back.

After that cast Gambler started to swim back to John, he was panicking, so John ran out there by him to get him to stay in the water and finish the blind.

Took his cast and got to land.

Gambler was to the left of the blind (tree with white ribbon) so John casted him to the right.

Bingo finally got to the blind.

John had Gambler sit and stay until he got back to the original starting point so Gambler would take the correct line back.

Coming back on the correct line.

Back into the second pond.

John guiding Gambler into the first pond.

He made it! Boy was that a tough blind!

John stuck with it, Gambler stuck with it and they finished it. Gambler definitely needs more of these types of blinds so he can be proficient in it.

Now your probably wondering who is having a Birthday?????

Marsh Kitty – MK is having her 2nd Birthday. She had a one kitty party complete with a can of tuna.

Let me help myself!

Bloopers

Last but not least it is #NationalPurebredDogDay so I need to thank the AKC for recognizing the Chesapeake Bay Retriever so long ago as a purebred dog. Without that I wouldn’t have the breed that stole my heart.
