First Bloom

I had to share with you my plant that bloomed for the first time since I’ve had it. I’m not sure what kind it is but think some sort of Easter Cactus. I got it from my mom over 25 years ago. I actually thought it was ugly because it was just green with long vines on it that would poke the heck out of me when ever I watered it or transplanted it. Last year I moved it to a new location in the back bedroom because I was sick of looking at it. A few weeks ago I went to water it and low and behold a small bud appeared, I was super excited. Then Friday I went to water it again and holy cow look what that little bloom did! Plus there are three to four more blooms. The ugly duck turned into a beautiful flower now.

I wonder if I’ll have to wait another 25 plus years before it blooms again.

We had a beautiful one of those a few years ago, but cat bro Bert ate it and we had to throw it out because he refused to leave it alone.

We had one of those in my bedroom when I was growing up, wait, I think mine was a Christmas Cactus, it still took forever to bloom. I think after it blooms once you don’t have to wait quite as long but you still have to wait!

I guess it likes its new spot. I know with Christmas cactus, you have to put them in a dark spot and leave them alone for them to bloom. Wonder if that plant is the same?
