FitDog Friday~Not Your Normal Exercise Regimen

When it comes to Sand Spring Chesapeakes nothing is normal (if you haven’t figured that out already) so today for FitDog Friday we are doing Not Your Normal Exercise Regimen.

Normal? What's normal?

Normal? What’s normal?

What’s that you ask?

It’s where I decide to take Nellie, Gambler and Glory down to the creek for our exercise of the day. We have a bit of a walk/run to get to the creek so while we were on our way I look back and this is what I seen:

Jumping over the first ditch bank.

Jumping over the first ditch bank.

Glory decided to haul a chunk of firewood out with her on her run and Gman brought his stuffed elephant. Once we got to the creek I wondered what we were going to do and it dawned on me that the only thing I had to throw to get them some retrieving in was the elephant. So I chucked the elephant across the creek to the other side and they had to go get it.

Chuck the elephant over and they will follow.

Chuck the elephant over and they will follow.

Nellie and Glory climbing back out of the creek.

Nellie and Glory climbing back out of the creek.

Over again.

Over again.

Over again with Glory in the lead.

Over again with Glory in the lead.

Gambler trying to catch up.

Gambler trying to catch up.

Gambler the sly devil still beat her to the elephant and back across we come.

Gambler the sly devil still beat her to the elephant and back across we come.

Again in unison.

Again in unison.

Gambler a shy short so had to climb out.

Gambler was a little short so had to climb out.

The retrieve and back again.

The retrieve and back again.

In order to retrieve the elephant they had to go across to get it circle back and jump across the creek again then bring me the elephant to do it over and over again.

This is so much fun, I do it over and over again.

This is so much fun, I do it over and over again.

We take a break from jumping to work on our strength and play tug of war.

We take a break from jumping to work on our strength and play tug of war.

Mean while where is Miss Nellie when all this is going on? Miss Nellie is too smart in her old age to be jumping over the creek so many times so she was wondering around the creek bed and would climb out when she was finished.

This is one steep bank.

This is one steep bank.

I am strong, I can do it.

I am strong, I can do it.

I will run across the field for my exercise.

I will run across the field for my exercise.

Great fun was had by all.

Great fun was had by all.

So you can see Not Your Normal Exercise Regimen but hey we made do with what we had and the gang got there FitDog Friday in.

hahaha you should of seen mom when we did our pheasant hunt in the snow I damn near died! I put 12 pheasants that i think equaled 30 plus pounds in a sled and drug it down the marsh to plant the pheasants then went to get a dog, hunted went back got another dog hunted and another dog. When I was planting the birds I told my 16 year old nephew he needed to pull the shed as I was breathing heavy and was going to die.

No stuffies outside is our house rule but Bailie broke that one last night and somehow snuck puppy outside. Mom managed to get him back before any outdoor damage occurred. Looks like your pups had a total blast, racing in the snow is always so much fun and great exercise!

    Hi Y’all!

Looks like y’all were havin’ fun.

We went for our longer morning walk this morning, my Human didn’t look at the temperature first ’cause she was afraid she’d just push me out in the little fenced yard instead of going with me. Later she took a picture of the clock and the temp was changing from +2.2F to +2.3F…a veritable heat wave!

I took a quick romp and then couldn’t get back in the house fast enough…beating her back as usual!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

Stuffed elephant? Sounds like great fun,, I need to get one of those. Mom and I always do things we never expect to do. Like Mom plans a nice calm walk and right as we are walking out I plonk a toy in front of her to take with us. I mean who could leave poor Mr, Frisbee all on his lonesome?

Those were some great shots…good thing you had the toy along for them. Loved that Nellie knew better than to overdo it. Leah has been overdoing it a bit playing in the snow and it makes her arthritis act up in the evening – but she loves it so much that I just have to let her have a bit of fun before bringing her back in.

Looks like fun and a great way to stay fit. We don’t have a creek, but our exercise has been trudging around in the snow too. 🙂 Fabulous pictures, especially that last one. 🙂
