Today for Sepia Saturday I am going with our host Ruckus The Eskies theme. Over at Ruckus’s blog you will see a beautiful sunset in sepia so I thought I would post up my sunrise pictures with Norman hunting in Saskatchewan 2009.
A HUNTING DOGS PRAYER
I thank Thee, Oh Lord, for the rivers, woods, and fields wherein lie the game birds I love to hunt. I thank Thee also for the men and women who protect and preserve wild life in all its forms so that future generations will have the healthful pleasures of hunting and fishing. My master means more than life or death to me and I pray for intelligence, ability, and strength to understand and execute his or hers commands and desires. May our companionship lead to complete understanding so that our moments will be the happiest of all. Help my master to comprehend that I will gladly give my life for them, be they millionaire or pauper. Their love and confidence is all I ask. I beseech you to guide him or her and protect them from thoughts, deeds, or actions which will disturb the faith of others in them. I want my master to be respected by their friends as I look up to them. The wag of my tail indicated the feelings of my heart and no blows, privation, or hunger will ever keep me from being happy when I hear my master’s voice or footsteps. When the curtains of death are about to close my active life, I pray Thee, Oh, God, that my master be near, their hand caressing my head as my eyelids close.

Beautifully written. Norman was such a kind and tender dog to be able enjoy such a nice rise with the duck! The contrast of the white duck and Norman really captures in Sepia. Thanks for sharing this on Sepia Saturday with us all!

Beautiful photos. I’m very touched by the posts about Norman. I lost my beloved greyhound Matilda in October, and she had lymphoma, and then osteosarcoma as well. She had been doing well, and was very happy, and then suddenly it was over. I love the pictures of Norman with the wings. I actually bought some wings and was going to try to combine them with some photos of Matilda.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I will stop by you blog and read about Matilda. I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard so hard. I at least had time to prepare which made it easier. Hugs to you.

Those are such great photos, and the sepia really makes them dramatic. The prayer seems to fit the mood of them perfectly too. Great job and great memories.
