Nothing But Norman #71

Happy Saturday All!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Since this week was a big one with breeding Glory I thought I would share Norman’s two litters with you. The first breeding we did with Norman was back in 2004. We bred Norman to a fine young lady called AOK Ridge Abby. She delivered 6 puppies on 10/7/04. This is how we came upon Nellie. Since this wasn’t my litter I didn’t get to  keep in contact with the puppies from the litter. When the litter was about 5 years old we came across one of the owners of the only male puppy in the litter. We went and saw him and he was a spitting image of Norman, and he constantly carried a ball around just like Norman too.

Nellie is the middle pictures and her litter mate Maya was on top.

Rugar, Norman’s son.

Norman had a breeding the fall of 2010, there was a confirmed pregnancy and at time of whelp there was only one puppy that was having troubles getting out and they ended up losing the only puppy. This was a very sad time for me as it was a really great breeding and I was to get a Norman boy puppy from this litter.

Norman’s second living litter was born 5/13/11. The breeding was with HRCH UH Hope Springs Dowry MHR*** . This breeding produced Gambler. I do keep in contact with some of the other litter mates and it has been a joy to see them grow up and see what they have been up to. Gambler has a couple of Norman’s traits but for the most part he is 95% his mom.

There were 8 puppies in the litter. This is just 6 of them when they were 11 months old.

Hopefully one day soon we will be breaking out Norman’s frozen swimmers and have another Norman litter and keep a puppy out of that litter for another stud dog.

Good luck with all the breeding goals. Mom contemplated breeding me, but we decided it was just not what Mom should do and we are leaving breeding to others. We will concentrate on titles using our noses instead. We hope everything goes well and you have little ones in a couple months.

It’s so sad that the only puppy didn’t survive :o( I’m sure Glory will have a wonderful litter with the cutest pups ever! I’m always a little unsure for the stud service, as you mentioned, in this case it is not my litter and I have no say in. I don’t want a puppy and I feel bad for taking money (I’m definitely not made for this business LOL)

Oh my, do keep us updated with Glory! I’m sorry about the lost pup. 🙁 We had a rough year last year with some unsuccessful AI’s. I was so bummed. Hopefully this year will be better. Good luck to you!!!

Lovely sepia photo at the top! That pup is definitely an angel… can’t say I would be able to let those geese so close and be so kind myself! :O

How tough to lose that puppy, but I’m glad you’ve had success since then. Will you be keeping any puppies from Glory’s litter, or is that decided yet?

Norman’s puppies were beautiful! Can’t wait to see Glory’s puppies! And that is so cool that you will have more Norman puppies one day! How exciting!

It’s great that you have one Norman pup and still a chance to have another. We will be so happy to see Glory’s pups soon. Newfs are very hard to breed so the outcome is always unsure. Never could get Lexie’s breedings to take and Mica got pregnant but with only 1 they took by emergency C it was not alive and almost lost Mica. We quit trying and just went back to our breeder for Aspen.

This is probably my biggest regret with Sampson, is that I did not have the chance to have him continue on. Of course there’s always cloning. ‘-)

Those pups from Norman’s first litter were sure nice looking pups. 🙂 Best of luck with Glory’s breeding. It will be like having a bit of Norman continue. 🙂 Storm’s breeder always says look to siblings of grandparents to see what you will get. I think that may be true. Freighter is more like his grand-uncle than like Thunder his grandfather.
