Saying Goodbye To The Puppies With More Puppy Exercise

In Memory of 9/11 there is no {This Moment} See Beautiful blog hop today. I had this post done in advance, I tried to edit it or post it up on a different day, I couldn’t change my wording because it all just seemed to fit so I’m leaving it a See Beautiful Moment.

For all the families of 9/11 I remember and send you all my love, hugs and prayers. To all the working dogs that helped out during that very difficult time God Speed!

This past week I said goodbye to Glory and Thunders puppies. They all have left the nest (except Preacher), it is much quieter and I seem to have more time on my hands now that it is down to one puppy. My friends have all asked me how Glory is handling the puppies being gone and have asked me if I am sad and how I feel raising these puppies for the past 8 weeks and then saying goodbye to them.

Glory is doing great. I think dogs live in the moment and don’t dwell on what was. Yes she gave birth to them, she raised them for the time she needed to but life must go on and her life is being a companion to us and not raising puppies for their lifetime. She hasn’t changed one bit. She still has motherly instincts that will stay with her til the end but to be sad her puppies are gone I can’t see it.

As for me sure I am sad that the puppies are gone, what’s not to be sad about 7 burrheads? The last two weeks have been a lot of work and it was time for them to go to their new homes. It’s hard to watch 8 puppies and keep them from harm. I did my part now it’s time for them to move on also.

When I see how happy these new owners are when they have a new puppy in their arms is when I stop being sad and See Beautiful. These puppies are going to give their new owners so much love and so many smiles that it makes me smile. There’s no way I should keep all this happiness to myself when it can be shared. Maybe with a little more puppy happiness in this world it would be a better place. God Speed little ones!

The puppies just loved to wrestle and got much exercise from it because when they were done wrestling they would get up and run for their lives to get away from the shark teeth.

That’s what Shela of Owyheestar Weims wrote, this pups bring joy to their new families… and some of the people really need a friend after a loss or a hard time. And at last if all breeders would keep their litters we all would be dog-less :o) I tried to change my see beautiful post today too, but it didn’t fit so I leave it in my draft till nex time and wrote a new one…. it was anyway no easy to find words for today… there are more tears than words :o(

I know what you mean about sending them off…after 8 weeks of hard work, it is a bit of relief. It’s so great when you can stay in touch and see them grow up. We had friends that got our Max’s pups, so I got to see them grow – one of them even lived next door, so he would come and visit mom all the time.

Wishing the pups long and happy lives. I will miss seeing all the pictures of them though. When Storm came home after her pups, she took to mothering Nestle for a bit…lol.

It definitely sounds like you earned some relaxation–hope you’ve been able to find some time to put your feet up and have some “you” time after keeping up with all those puppies! I love all of the new family pictures–looks like everyone is very happy!

Just like humans, dogs raise their young to grow up and go out on their own. The only difference is dogs don’t necessarily want the young to come back, humans do. She has Preacher, so she still has one baby in the nest.

I remember the days and weeks when we visited the pups before they came home to live with us at 8 weeks of age: Our friend had rescued their pregnant mom and took on caring for her, and then her litter of 9. She was busy non-stop and while sad to see all the pups go off to their new homes, she also appreciated the calm & quiet that came back once all the pups had left. I’m sure Jolene, the K9 mom, appreciated it as well 🙂

I think you are right, how can you be too sad when there are so many happy faces holding new puppies? You’ll miss them but you have Preacher and the rest of your regular crew to focus back on now.
Puppies for everyone! That could surely cure many of the world’s ills, and this is the perfect day to think about that.

It was such fun watching Glory’s pregnancy and the puppies arrival. You provided them with the best possible start in life and they are very fortunate. It looks as if they are all in loving homes. Job well done! ♥

You’re absolutely right, the circle of life continues and though we’ll all be a bit sadder at not seeing daily photos of the Pooh bellies of those precious fur-bundles, like you, we are thrilled at the love and companionship they will provide others. You did an amazing job, JoAnn. Kudos, wishing you much love and happiness with your Preacher girl! <3
