Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Thank you all who left me a comment on Nothing But Norman #50, the ones that wanted to be entered into the drawing for a paracord collar were:

#1 jenn richardson
#2 marty
#3 mollie and alfie
#4 jenna
#5 MK Clinton
#6 Dogs n paws
#7 Susie and Ziva
#8 cathy connolly
#9 Rascal and rocco

This is who Random.org said the winner is:

How appropriate that Susie and Zena won today as Zena is Gamblers sister and Norman’s Granddaughter. Don’t fret others there will be more chances to enter and win a collar so stay tuned a give away might just pop up when you least expect it.

Here is a picture of Norman with Ziva and Gambler with Ziva. These were taken at a hunt test near Ziva’s home. The pups were about a year old in the picture.

I’ve been wearing this necklace for a month now. My friend Nicole from Alred Photography and That Girls Stuff  got me this little bottle to put Norman’s ashes in. I wear it everyday never taking it off. When people talk to me about Norman I say “do you want to say Hi to him” and I hold up the necklace, you should see their faces! Then they all say “hi” to him. I just love this necklace, he is always by my heart now. I did have to superglue the little screw into the cork and super glued the cork into the bottle. It is holding strong.

Old Dog in a Locket

Old dog in a locket

That lies next to my heart

I will always love you

As I did right from the start.

You were right beside me

Through the darkest of my days

It was your kind and gentle nature

That made me want to stay.

Now I hold you in my arms

Your breath still warm against my hand

Our hearts still beat together

And I wonder if you understand.

Through the hours that I held you

Before the light did leave you soul

I knew a way to keep you

Forever in my hold.

I snipped the hair from around your eyes

So I would always see

The beauty that surrounds me

Even in times of need.

I snipped the hair from around your ears

So I would always hear

Music in the distance

To quite any fears.

I snipped the hair from across your back

To bring me strength in time of need

And the power of your essence

Would always be with me.

I snipped the hair from around your heart

That beat in time with mine

So I would know that love would find me

At some distant time.

And so, your life slipped out of mine

On a quiet Winter like day

But I knew that a part of you

Was always here to stay.

Old dog in a locket

That lies next to my heart

I will always love you

Even though we had to part.

Tomorrow will mark 8 months since the passing of Norman. I still think of him each and everyday and miss him more and more. Every now and then he will come to me in a dream and sometimes he will come to me in others dreams. Tuesday at work my boss came to me and told me she had a dream about Norman and I. I had told her about my hunt test weekend with Gambler on Monday so she went home and had a dream. She told me she was watching us compete and Gambler failed his water blind so she came up to me and told me that Gambler did a great job despite his fail and I looked at her and said “this is Norman”! She said “you were running Gambler, Norman is dead”. I said “Norman isn’t dead you gave him the osteosarcoma shot and he is alive now”. Needless to say my boss said she shouldn’t read veterinary journals before she goes to bed. I thought it was cute.

Since Glory (Norman’s Granddaughter) passed her UKC HRC Seasoned test last weekend and I showed the ribbon pictures of her on my blog earlier this week I thought I would show you Norman’s ribbons from his UKC HRC Finished tests. He didn’t go through all the beginner tests he jumped right into Finished and went 7-7.
