This winter has been a long cold one in Wisconsin. It’s been so cold I haven’t spent much time outside. I am a hermit when it comes to cold weather and I found out last Sunday on my walk around my property that I have been missing out on some real See Beautiful moments.
The real beauty I saw was in my furkids. Nellie, Gambler and Glory. In the outdoors with the natural sunlight and the beautiful surrounding of my property the real beauty of them was seen.
The pine trees in the background are trees that I planted back in 1998 when we bought the property. They have really grown into beautiful trees that make beautiful background for my pictures.
The marsh and pond have a different look to it in the winter. A This Moment~See Beautiful look. I stood back in awe and just smiled at what I have produced all stemming from my foundation stud Norman, he gave me Nellie and Gambler and Nellie gave me Glory. Three souls that will be beautiful to me each moment of each day. I leave you with my favorite dog poem. This pretty much sums up my feelings on my furkids.
Just A Dog
From time to time people tell me, “Lighten up, it’s just a dog,” or, “That’s a lot of money for just a dog,” They don’t understand the distance traveled, time spent, or costs involved for “Just a dog.” Some of my proudest moments have come about with “Just a dog.” Many hours have passed with my only company being “Just a dog,” and not once have I felt slighted. Some of my saddest moments were brought about by “Just a dog.” In those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “Just a dog” provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day.
If you, too, think its “Just a dog,” you will probably understand phrases like “Just a friend,” “Just a sunrise,” or “Just a promise.” “Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. “Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of “Just a dog” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
For me and folks like me, it’s not “Just a dog.” It’s an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. “Just a dog” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday people can understand it’s not “Just a dog.” It’s the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “Just a man or woman.”
So the next time you hear the phrase “Just a dog,” smile, because they “Just Don’t Understand.”

Sorry, Gambler and Glory… its the Nellie photos that take my breath away. Old dogs are a very special blessing.
I too agree Sue, she can take some beautiful photos when she isn’t pissy and she is a great old gal. Love her.
Agree with Sue – those photos of Nellie are just so sweet. Although all of your dogs are beautiful, I understand why you see the beauty in them.
Something about those seniors! I love Nellie’s eyes.
I agree they are beautiful and to see our dogs warms our heart ( even when you still have winter in Wisconsin). Have a beautiful friday!
You have a beautiful day too easy. Hugs.
I somehow have started to like the photos of the grumpy dogs more… they just look funnier 😛
Wait til you see the booper edition next week.
Those are some beautiful shots. No matter how we feel about the temps or the weather, nature is always beautiful – especially when used as a background for a beloved dog (or three). Thanks for sharing the photos and the poem. Hope you have a nice weekend. 🙂
Thank you Donna, hope you and your gang has a great weekend too.
Such beautiful pictures! All of them!
Thank you!
That is a bummer living in WI and not liking cold weather, we love the cold and winter weather, so does Mom. The thought of living without the winter is not something Mom wants to ponder. Beautiful writing about “just a dog”. There is no just a dog at our house. We are family members, very important souls and Mom can’t imagine a life without us.
I am such a warm climate person. I do love the beauty of snow just hate the cold.
Your dogs are absolutely beautiful! Give them a hug from all of us!
Thank you, I will hug them when I get home, they can never have too many hugs.

Those photos are glorious! I LOVE the one of all three of them sitting on those rocks in the snow. All of them are wonderful and definitely a moment of beauty! None of them look like “just dogs” but like adorable fur children!
I like that photo also, it took me forever to get Nellie up there, she was too busy sniffing everything out she didn’t want to come over.
The beauty of winter w/ dogs of course. Always LOVE that poem. Happy Seeing Beauty. Golden LOVE n Woofs
My favorite poem, thanks for having this hop.

retro rover
She does have a wise face and a wise old gal. Thanks for stopping by.
What wonderful photos! There is something very special about the white in an older dogs face, it is just so beautiful.
Winter really is a beautiful season, with the pure white snow on the green pine trees and the fresh, crisp air, but I also have trouble dragging myself out there. The puppy is really the thing getting me outside this winter, more than I want to be really! 🙂
Poor Nellie has looked that way since she was 2. She is very lovely.
Wow you have the most dignified looking dogs (if they were human I’d say, distinguished) especially Nellie. She reminds me of those older ladies who’ve raised their kids, raised a bit of he** in their day, and now have tons of wisdom.
Thank you very much, I just love them to pieces. Thanks for hopping by.
Beautiful pictures!
