American Staffordshire Terrier/Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix: An adoptable dog in Madison, WI

Medium • Adult • Female

I’m Daphne. I’m used to being on my own, but I love my foster parents and I’m starting to listen to what they tell me. I LOVE to play with balls or toys and I love to give kisses! I also love snuggling, cuddling and belly rubs, of course. I don’t know what to think of other dogs or animals yet, but I’m very curious!

From Daphne’s foster parents: Daphne is just adorable and really sweet. She’s not used to being on a leash, but is getting better, and with a harness it is easier to control her. Daphne is VERY loving and gentle towards people. She will just melt into your arms when you rub her! She will easily go into her crate (usually with a treat), and will sit or lay nicely while inside her crate. No accidents in the house so far! We would recommend watching her very closely with any bones or rawhides because she has a tendency to try to swallow them whole – eek! She is such a sweet cuddler and very soft too! She is learning how to sit, but will obviously need more training because she’s still a puppy. She’s so curious and attentive – always wondering what noises are. She loves music! She sleeps through the night and does not make a peep. Daphne will be a very loyal and loving companion. Please come meet Daphne – you won’t forget her!

Adoption Process:

Guardianship Application available for download by clicking here

The Adoption process is designed to help best place dogs with homes that are in the best interest of the dogs and their human companions. The adoption process starts with a prescreen review of an Guardian Application. Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an “art”, not a “science”, and there will be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the MAPS after reviewing relevant information. MAPS reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is no guarantee that any applicant(s) requesting to adopt a dog being fostered through MAPS, or posted on MAP’s web site, will be granted an adoption. After a successful prescreen, including background checks, the applicant(s) are notified that they can visit the dogs and a time slot is made for the dog and applicant interaction. After the interaction we encourage several days of reflection before adopting a pet to help assure this will be a lifetime commitment of love and quality care for the dog. Next we conduct a home/neighborhood visit to the Guardian Applicant’s home. If the home visit proves successful the new mom and/or dad of the dog will sign an Adoption Agreement and share a lifetime of love !
