Walk Your Dog With Mischief Monday Hop

What??? Mischief while walking your dog??? No Way!!!

Yes way when it comes to the Sand Spring Gang!

Last week we finally got off our butts, hooked up the leashes, three to be exact and headed off for a walk. We headed down the road on a nice walk to the river…..

Off on a leisurely walk, minding our own business.

When we turn the corner and come upon our brother-in-laws house we see this on the side of the road that we had to pass by…..

I did all I could do to drag the dogs past and then we ran into this……

Nellie was telling big stories to Rosco as I dragged her by, Gambler and Glory thought it was a playmate. We finished our walk to the river where…..

Gambler found something to roll in at the river, all of them found a carcass to eat on and carry the bones back with them. They thought it was a great walk.

A couple days later we grabbed the leashes again and headed off in a different direction. This direction consisted of walking up one big hill through the woods. It was a damp dreary day but be braved it and off we went.

Up the hill to the mischief.

When all of a sudden out of no where’s this appeared…..

A squirrel crossed the road getting the dogs all excited.

All the dogs were pulling and trying to run to chase the squirrel I thought to myself with all the weight of three dogs I (130#) was trying to hold back 210# of dogs. That is a whole lot of weight if you ask me!

We continued on our walk and then on the way back home we stopped at the creek and had a little fun under the bridge.

We had a great couple of days of walking, hopefully there will be more to come with no mischief attached.

Walk Your Dog Blog Hop~Saskatchewan Escapades

walk-your-dog-hop-button-orig

Today I am joining up with Paws and Pedals (AKA FitDog101) and Boingy Dog for their Walk Your Dog Hop held the first Monday of the month.

My Walk Your Dog post is going to be on Saskatchewan Escapades. Since I have hunting dogs most of the time we are out hunting and not on a leash. They are on a leash and tied down when we are sitting in our blind but when it comes time to retrieve a bird they are off leash and then the fun begins. Here are some photos of the dogs retrieving birds in Saskatchewan.

If there is a good day of hunting our dogs get to get many retrieves in and the picture looks like this.

After all those retrieves sometimes you just have to take a sit for a moment.

The real beauty is seen in the sky’s above the beauty of the running dogs.

Even know the dogs aren’t on a leash and being walked they are still out getting exercise and I am enjoying the beautiful scenery. My favorite hunts happen in Saskatchewan. Hope you enjoyed Walk You Dog blog hop and my Saskatchewan Escapades.

It’s the first Monday of the month so it’s Walk Your Dog Hop day. Brought to you by BoingyDog, Paws and Pedals & Gizmo’s Terrier Torrent!

The Sand Spring gang has been doing a lot of  hunting this fall. Since they are hunting they are not on a leash or being walked they are walking off leash and a whole lot of running. They cover all kinds of terrain from tall marsh grass to running and wading in water to climbing hills and ducking under trees. They get their workout for sure.

Here are some photos of their hunting off leash.

So you can see the gang has been covering all kinds of terrain. Our hunting season is winding down so next month we will probably be on a leash for our Walk The Dog Hop.

Hope you all are getting out and walking your dog and enjoying the scenery and the time spend with your friend. There is nothing else like it!

Walk Your Dog Hop

This is a new monthly blog hop started by BoingyDog from California,Paws and Pedals from Australia and Gizmo Terrier Torrent from Florida. This hop will be the first Monday of each month.

This is what they have to say about the hop: Welcome to the Walk Your Dog Blog Hop, a monthly celebration of the joy to be  found in the simple act of leashing up your dog and heading out the door… If you want to make plans to join us next time, the date will be Monday, December 2nd…
I just found out about this today on Gizmo’s blog. I wanted to join because I have been out walking my dog so wanted to share in the fun. This time of year I don’t walk the dogs on a leash. Our walking consists of going hunting, when hunting the dogs aren’t on a leash but they are walking, running, swimming which means they are still getting exercise. I am getting exercise also as I am right there with them in the walking and running department, I try to avoid swimming as I can’t swim, so I will leave that to the dogs as we know they are retrievers so they can do all the retrieving in the water.
This post is going to be about me. Last February I went to the doctor and of course got weighed. I had no idea how much I weighed, I new my clothes were fitting a little snug but I thought I still looked alright. Boy was I in for a rude awaking when the nurse told me I weighed 166#! Mind you I am 5.2″ and believe my heaviest was around 150#. I told her she must be seeing things. When she left the room I threw off all my clothes and jumped back on the scale and yup 166#. When the doctor came in I told him the scale told me I was fat. It was then I decided I needed to make a life change. My sister-in-law Lynn was already using My Fitness Pal phone app for tracking her caloric and exercise intake. So I started using that program, grabbed my leashes and started walking my dogs (Nellie is overweight also so this was good for her too).

With many dog walks and counting my calories I reached by goal in 6 months. I am happy to report I lost 36# and a whole lot of inches on my body. I am on maintenance calories now and still maintaining my weight. Walking the dogs, hunting with the dogs is what keeps me maintaining. So this is a win win situation for me and for the dogs!
Here are a couple before and after pictures of me:
