Today’s co-hostess is Linda over at 2 Brown Dawgs

Thank you Jodi for your excellent idea of announcing the co-hostess on Thursday. It does help so much with getting the Follow-Up Friday post ready. Your so clever! Have a great time at Blog Paws!

WordPress Award

First I want to say thank you to Melody over at Donkey Whisperer Farm who nominated Sand Spring for another WordPress Family Award. I am so grateful that you consider me part of your blogging family. Melody was in a horrible Semi-Truck accident 3 years ago and holds on to the strength of Jesus to guide her each day. She has beautiful flower gardens and a Mammoth Jack that she hopes to be able to ride one day soon. Thanks again for the award!

wordpress-family-award

I was recently given this award by Miss Harper Lee and followed the rules on accepting this award. This time I am going to break the rules as I don’t have that many blogs I read right now and have shared this award with my WordPress family already. Here is what the award is about for those of you who haven’t seen it.

It is my honor to start this award.” from Shaun @ http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com/

This is an award for everyone who is part of the “WordPress Family” I started this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can show. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents “Family” we never meet, but are there for us as family.

Tuesday’s Tails – recap on

June – Adoptable senior female Chessie

June is an 11 year old Chessie/Lab mix who came into rescue in dire need of medical treatment. She was blind in one eye due to Glaucoma, and upon checking pressures in that eye, it was determined she was most likely in great pain, with the high pressures causing major headaches. June also was in extreme need of a dental-and needed to have 6 teeth removed, one surgically. June also has many fatty tumors, but upon aspiration, they have been determined to be just that, fatty tumors. June had surgery to remove the bad eye, and has had to have a second surgery due to possible allergic problems with the internal stitches.

Wordless Wednesday ~Gamblers BFF

Gamblers little friend is Dug the Pug. He is owned by a friend of mine that I work with. When she goes out of town I babysit Dug so she doesn’t have to pay to kennel him. He gets along with all my dogs minus Nellie. We call Nellie sharkie when Dug is here and have to watch her closely that she doesn’t eat him up. This visit has gone really well. It is the first time I can leave Nellie out with him and no shark attacks. She must be coming around and learning he doesn’t stay or hurt anyone. I took Dug to the lake with me on Wednesday and he wanted nothing to do with the water. This is where he spent the hour at the lake.

This ‘N That Thursday

Wednesday’s Vet Visit- 2 Brown Dawgs asked:

“Did the doctor give you his rating that he thought Gambler would get on his hip x-rays”

Dr. Link told me he thought Gambler would get a Excellent on his hips and Normal elbows. I do so hope he is right as Gambler would be my first Excellent rating out of 3 dogs. Norman and Nellie are both good. Gamblers mom had Excellent hips. This doctor is usually spot on with his ratings.

We went to the lake for the first time on Wednesday and posted up pictures of the dogs jumping off the dock in preparation for their event with UAD at the UKC Premier. Here are some more pictures of their fun. These pictures of Norman and Nellie are called “bait and switch”! Nellie is a bumper hog. Once she retrieves her bumper she will come to shore and spit it out and swim back out and steal bumpers from the other dogs. Norman has been dealing with this for the past 8 years so he is like “fine, you can have it”.

I took my bumper to shore now I’m heading out to get another one!

Poor Norman always gets the shaft from the bumper hog Nellie.

Nellie sounds like Storm in so many ways…lol. Storm would probably give Dug the what for and she thinks everything is hers. Love the picture of Dug and the ones of Nellie and Norman swimming. That is a fantastic series of pictures.

Congrats on having “normal” hips and elbows. The grade is one thing, but at least you know that they look really good. One of the reasons Storm’s breeder waits to OFA his dogs until they are older is because if a dog has what looks like excellent hips at 4 they are more likely to give that score because any issues would have shown up by then. I don’t know how much truth there is to that but Thunder’s x-ray looked like Storm’s and he got a good. Thunder had x-rays done at 2. I guess it depends on which of the vets score.

It is funny, I always figured both Thunder and Storm’s hips would be OK because they can twist themselves into the oddest positions and do it often.

    Have a nice weekend!

Congratulations on your second WordPress Family award. Enjoyed the photo of Dug the Pug waiting on dry land while everyone else had a nice swim. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    Hi Y’all!

    Congratulations on the Award!

Hey, I learned something! I’m a lucky fellow ’cause I don’t have to compete with a bumper hog!

    Y’all come by now,

Dug the Pug is so cute! I had a pug when I was in college. She was awesome! Poor Norman! Those women can be very bossy and aggressive at times! Great follow up!

    Congratulations on the award.
    Dug is very cute!

I love the photos of Norman and Nellie. Congrats on Gamblers ratings. I hope he gets an exceellent. When I had Riva’s done my vet thought hers were excellent and when they came back with a good she said “I sure wish I knew how they are judging hips because she had the best I have seen”

Great follow up! And thank you for joining the hop, I didn’t even have time to turn on the computer while I was at BlogPaws so I’m extremely grateful that Linda handled the whole thing. 🙂 Glad you like the idea of announcing the co-host on Thursday, I thought it just might be easier.

Love the photos of the birthday party, it makes me want you for my mom, they look like such fun! And glad to hear that Gambler’s hips and elbows appear to be good that must be such a relief to you.

congrats on the other award, isn’t it fun to be recognized by fellow bloggers?
