Norman’s favorite spot on the couch was right next to me on the chase lounge, he would lay by John sometimes but mostly he was by me. At night when 9 pm came along he somehow new it was bedtime and he would get up from his spot and stand on the ground and lay his head on the chase lounge and just stare at me until I got up and went to bed. Even when I didn’t want to go to bed just yet he would move all around the chase lounge and stare at me from different angles. He is the only dog that would let me know it was bed time until now. It’s taken almost a year since Norman’s passing for him to channel his son Gambler. 3 times in the past week Gambler has gotten up from Norman’s spot on the chase lounge next to me and has laid his head on it staring at me trying to get me to get up and go to bed. Thank you Norman for coming back in your son.
Heaven gained another furangel yesterday. Norman was waiting to show his buddy Carson the ropes. Carson was my co-worker and friend Laura’s pal. He will me missed by all. Picture collage was taken this past August by her best friend Lisa Finke. So glad she has these wonderful pictures to remember Carson by. RIP Big Guy!
It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are. – Anonymous

This picture of Norman with this beautiful pheasant was taken on a pheasant farm hunt I went on with Norman a few years ago. I think he looks so regal holding that bird. The reflection photo is my favorite. I am so blessed to have these wonderful photos to look at and share my memories with you.

When Norman was a wee little lad we had 2 pet Raccoon’s Balky and Bigalow. He grew up with these guys and loved them as the coon loved to play with him. They all got along great. The coon would know the difference between Norman and other dogs that came by, they would growl and hiss when strange dogs would come by but not when Norman came by.

The first photo is the original. This is my most favorite photo I took of Norman on my trainers property when Norman was around 2-3 years old. This photo is the same one that is on the Westminster Kennel Club website on the Chesapeake Bay Retriever breed profile page.
I cried when I saw this next photo as he is my shinning star looking out for me from up above.
Nichole sent me this photo and said it was her favorite out of all of them but there was something missing in it. I thought to myself what could be missing this is beautiful.
Then she showed me this photo and the tears were pouring. Absolute beautiful. What a beautiful job.

This past week I got a email from one of Nellie’s puppy buyer’s (Norman’s grandson) from her and Tiny’s 2009 litter. They bought a male puppy and named him Junior. Junior lives in Iowa and is lucky enough to live in a hunting household that also owns a hunt club and he is the designated pick up dog for the hunts. The past two weeks he has been hunting hard and has retrieved 180 snow geese. What a life, every hunting dogs dream.
This is what Junior’s owner says: We shot over 180 birds the last two weeks. He was the only dog in the field. He is so awesome. he had some blind retrieves that blew my mind, over the terrace’s and down the hill, then he would appear with the bird. You guys would be so proud of him!! I swear a couple of the guys fell in love with him. We joked that we should not leave JR and them alone in the same room!!!
Getting emails like this makes me so happy. So glad Junior is living the life and that his owners love him to pieces. This all wouldn’t of happened without Grandpa Norman to start out the family tree.

My Memory Garden
My memory garden,
Where I meet you each day.
And tell you all my secrets,
That to no one else I could say.
There is this lovely path where we walk hand in hand,
And I tell you about the pups and make tomorrows plans.
My garden is well kept and cared for everyday,
I want it always to be pleasant for this is where I meet you each day.
There will be no one to disturb us and the flowers are your kind,
For this beautiful garden is a place found only in my mind

Lately I don’t have time to miss Norman as he or his kids pop in on me and keep my mind off of his passing. This week was a really proud moment for me as I saw one of Norman’s puppies on a Bayer Advantage Multi ad. Last summer I got a call from one of my puppy buyers telling me he just finished a photo shoot with his dog Annie for Bayer Advantage Multi. He said out of (I believe if I remember correctly) 150 different dogs Annie got chose to be the dog for their new ad they were putting out for Advantage Multi. He took her several days and she got her picture taken inside and outside and had a blast at it. They told him she was so well behaved and was a natural. They asked him if they could continue to use her for photo shoots and I believe they signed a 5 year contract. I didn’t know when the ad was coming out or if I would ever see it. Even know I work at a clinic we don’t use too many Bayer products or have a sales rep so I didn’t know who to contact to see the ad. While hanging out on Facebook this week the ad finally appeared, I confirmed with the owners of Annie if that was indeed her and it was! What a happy dance moment. Annie is Gamblers full sister and is out of Norman, HRCH Sand Spring Norman Of Caroway MH x HRCH UH Hope Springs Dowry MHR***. I couldn’t be more proud, her picture is going to be all over nationwide. Thanks to Ken & Joy for raising such a beautiful girl and getting her picture on a advertisement for a well known company. The below picture I submitted to Retriever Journal as a subscriber photo. I had done it awhile ago so I totally forgot that I did it and forgot what photo and narrative I sent in. It was a bittersweet surprise when I got out magazine and saw it. Norman keeps popping in to say hi after he is gone which I am so grateful for.

Since I shared Brooke’s story on Give Cancer The Paw blog hop I thought I would finish the week out with a couple pictures of Brooke with brother Norman. It took me till right this second that I lost both Brooke and Norman to cancer. So for Brooke and Norman here is a big F….Y…. cancer, I give you the paw!
Since both dogs died of Cancer I thought I would share this picture video of Norman telling us what we need to do when we hear bad news about our health.
If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s *Chesapeake* around.
