MK Deserves Some Puter Time~Happy Flag Day

Happy Flag Day!

MK’s Puter Time!

Today is also World Pet Memorial Day.

A TIME TO REMEMBER —————— They come into our lives for such a short time a time we wouldn’t trade not even for a dime Then before you know it the years have flown by and then all of the sudden we’re saying good-bye

It wasn’t that long ago we said our good-byes we held on to you tight as you closed your eyes Your spirit has flown home on the wings of a dove into God’s loving arm’s; in heaven above

Over the days we’ve shed many tears but the memories we have will live on for years We feel your presence and we know that your near you’re keeping us safe and calming our fear

We think about memories from years past when you were young and strong and ran so fast we remember all the great times that we all had how you always made us happy never made us mad

They were the best and happiest years we had we’ll always look back on them and never be sad We look forward to the time we’ll be together again and we thank the Lord for such a great friend

Now you run and play up in Heaven above cradled in God’s arms covered with his love Playing by the Bridge waiting for the day we come down thru the meadow to the bridge to stay

The love that you showed us we’ll never forget because to us you’re one very special pet You’re like a star in the dark of night always watching over us with the Lord’s light

So now we take time to remember our best friend who will always be with us even to the end We’ll always remember you the way you were one big lovable huggable pile of fur

The chews are somewhat hard, it took the dogs a fair amount of time to chew them up. They couldn’t just eat it down, they had to work at it which was nice. They loved the taste and wanted more right away.

The gang gives the SmartChips a A+ and 16 paws up.

Gambler loved them so much he had to help himself to more.

It’s All About MK…No Chessies~Thursday Barks And Bytes

It’s all about MK, MK….No Chessies, It’s all about MK, MK….No Chessies.

Poor MK hasn’t gotten much lime life on the blog so today it’s all about her and not the chessies.

MK loves to hang out outside. I did find out the reason she want’s to be out their is probably to meet up with her boyfriend the striped cat that lives at my brother in laws house. I will see him dart off across the field to the line fence and he is traveling a ways from home so it must be to meet MK. MK also had a abscess last summer so it must of been from him. One of the many reasons to keep your cat indoors but do I listen or does MK? Nope, it’s a do as I say moment and not as I do. She is as photo genetic as the chessies so it’s all about MK today.

lgthe queen of hearts

Today’s Barks begins with Gambler announcing who the lucky girl is for his date to The Queen Of Hearts dance. Who do you think the lovely lady is??????

It is Wyatt’s sister Stanzie from http://wyattgardens.blogspot.com. Stanzie is a lovely Airdale Terrier that loves to hunt and eat turkey. Come back next Friday on Valentines day to see what is in store for Stanzie a little turkey maybe? You think Gambler and Stanzie will hit it off? Also see who Gambler will be kissing in the kissing booth, watch him pin a heart on a donkey and write a love message. The kissing booth, pin the heart and love message can all be seen on the hostess of the dance’s party page which you will see here.

On to my Bytes: What on earth happened to MK?

IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH, DON’T SCROLL DOWN! SURGERY PICTURES ATTACHED.

MK developed complications from her dog attack (thank you Gambler) that happened way back in May of 2013. You can read about MK here  here and here.

Last week I noticed a lump on MK’s side where her kidney should be (you shouldn’t be able to see a kidney protruding or any internal organs protruding so this got me a little concerned. You could see it when she moved or laid just right. MK only has one kidney which is not on the right side where this lump was. I thought maybe it could be the missing kidney swelled up, thought maybe another internal organ doing something it shouldn’t be or scar tissue from the bite that she endured, my last thought that it was going to turn out to be a parasitic twin (I love calling everything a parasitic twin and I knew if anyone would have one it would be her) .

Monday I brought her with me to work and had my boss examine her. We did a fine needle aspirate and cytology showed fat cells. She thought again possibly scar tissue. I decided to have a exploratory surgery done to see what it was and make sure everything was ok and not letting it go and doing the “watch and see”. It was a good thing that we went ahead with surgery. Sadly it wasn’t a parasitic twin.

Why am I in this cage?

Why am I in this cage?

Once we shaved MK for surgery we noticed a scar from the previous bite wound so we knew we were dealing with something that happened during the dog bite when she was wee little.

Dr. made a incision over the lump, fat started coming out. After the fat was removed she could see/feel what was going on.

Feeling around.

Feeling around.

A hernia (hole) in the abdominal cavity was felt. When Gambler bit her when she was just a wee little kitty he tore a hole in the abdominal cavity that we didn’t know about. The body is a wonderful thing as it tried to repair the hole by filling it full of fat.

Intestines coming out the hernia.

There was a big hole and the body wall was very thin. Dr. cleaned up the edges and sutured the hold shut hoping that the muscles will join back together again. Because the abdominal wall is so thin the sutures may not hold and the hole will be back. If this happens she will need another surgery to insert a mesh into the hole and sewn into place. We are going to hope and pray she doesn’t need that and that with cage rest she will heal from this surgery and won’t need another one.

Recovery.

After the surgery was completed and MK was taken off gas anesthesia she needed to keep her trachea tube in place to keep a open airway until she was swallowing on her own. Then the tube is removed and she is allowed to wake up on her own.

Today’s Barks starts with my first therapy dog visit with Gambler and Glory. We received our certification on December 4th 2013.

DSC_0239 - Copy

Friday January 17, 2014 was our first visit at a elementary school. We visited a class with emotional, behavioral disorders. The children each get a allotted amount of time to read to Gambler and Glory. Each dog comes in alone with me and lays on their blanket that I made just for visits.

Both dogs had a great visit. Gambler was a little antsy as he wanted the cookie on the child’s desk that he had to stare at the whole visit so lesson learned. If cookies in the area ask the teacher to move them so Gambler pays attention to the student. Our next visit is tomorrow.

Another Bark: During the winter months we are lucky enough to have the Eagles visit us. We do feed them scrapes from our hunts so they are more apt to stick around which they have. Here are a few pictures of them. The first one is by my house the second ones are around the section from my house on my property by the marsh.

A gambler funny for today….

A friend of mine dropped off a fox for John to skin and sell the hide. Gambler being the big brave boy that he is was so afraid of the fox. He did ask the fox a question so lets all listen and see what Gamber asks.

Scoop That Poop

PoopScoop_thumb

Today’s scoop that poop message is on a serious note and going to be about the importance of making arrangements to have someone to scoop that poop when your health deteriorates so much that you can’t scoop that poop yourself and the out come of what happens when you don’t scoop that poop.

When your health is terminal and near the end and you live by yourself with your animals you need to make arrangements to have someone come in and scoop that poop if you can’t.

If you own cat(s) you need to scoop the litter box on a daily basis.

When you have that you have a cat going outside the litter box which isn’t good at all.

Because my friend was near the end of her life and she didn’t make prior arrangements to have someone come in and take care of her pets both the cat and dog were peeing/pooping in the house. She was so sick she couldn’t clean up so when the emt’s came they ended up calling the police who ended up calling the animal control officer who came in and took the pet’s to the sheltera.

I went to the shelter and got her cat and dog out of jail and took them back to the clinic with me. The house on the other hand will have to have some work done to it.

When you are so sick or near the end of your life and you live alone please make arrangements to have your pet’s taken care of and have someone check on you also. Have them scoop that poop so the animals don’t get carted off to a strange place wondering what the heck they did and what is going on.

Monday Mischief~Helpers

Of course I had to go shopping Thanksgiving night for all the super duper sales that were going on. I did manage to get a couple of items that were on sale. One was a Bissell Pet Carpet Cleaner for $99.00. This will come in handy for my next litter of pups and for all the mischief spills the pooches do until that time.

The next hot item I bought was  2 island chairs with backs. They were only $50.00 for the two of them. Usually I see them normally for $39.00 for one so I thought this was a great deal.

The mischief came to play when John started putting the chairs together, he had a couple of helpers.
